The trip had cost him 23 trillion cells to reach this strange planet but if he ever expected to live forever he had to make the journey. His soul was
barely hanging on as he entered the outer atmosphere and he knew he had a very short time to make the conversion. He would have to land his craft
somewhere that wouldn’t draw attention. Ever since his people had begun making the journey to and from this planet it had become harder and harder
to escape detection. From the time they first found the daughters of men to be pleasant and beautiful they had taken them as wives. Their offspring
would guarantee the survival of their race and his very own survival.
When he found the right female he would lay with her and his soul would enter her and would be born again at the right time. So many of his cells
had died from the radiation encountered in the trip that he knew his body would probably not survive the mating. His hope resided in the knowledge
that if the impregnation was successful his soul would live on. Then when he matured to the fullness of his adulthood he would leave this planet and
return to his own to receive the next set of chromosomes that would begin his next life.
An endless cycle continuing from the beginning of time until now. But if he didn’t bring back the fresh DNA his people would die out. He also
understood that if he didn’t share his DNA with the people of Earth they too would die out. This delicate balance was maintained by the willingness
of his people to make the long journey and sacrifice their lives so that both planets would survive.
After he had hidden his ship he ventured out into the rural landscape where he had chosen to land. He had scanned the communities he had flown over on
his way in and discovered a very healthy fertile female living very close to his position. He would only need to locate her and bring her back to the
ship for impregnation and afterwards to confirm fertilization was successful.
He found her within just a few hours and he had completed his task and his journey. She would carry the fertilized egg within her until such time as
she would appear to become pregnant by a male of her race. That way there would be no occasion for questions to arise.
After he returned her to her home he made his way out into the dark night and gazed upon the heavens toward the far distant galaxy he had called home
for so long. Now as he felt his body life beginning to leave him he realized he had at last fallen in love.
