I was looking at something entirely different when this caught my eye on Youtube. It wasn't until part way into the video that I began to realize the
level of sheer craziness at work here and then, only when checking elsewhere was the real nature of insanity revealed for all to see. First, the
video!
Now it's a messy day there and a lot of mist in the air doesn't do the place justice. It really doesn't. First, it seems this is a regular local
sport. A few other daring pics I found around the net.
Just a little fun and I'm sure it's not that bad right in that spot...right? Gotta be a safe area they are doing this in...huh? Well... This is
Victoria Falls.
(Source Wikipedia)
and.... about there being a safe place? Well.....?
That's the full view of Victoria Falls. Where might that safe spot be, precisely?
So, the next time you run into someone who claims to have seen everything and done everything. Ask them if they've ever gone for a swim in the
Devil's Pool. It looks like quite an experience to me. Of course.....
Some are definitely more prone to risk taking than others. Amazing huh?
I think it looks a lot scarier than it actually is to be honest, there's no particularly strong currents where they are bathing and there appears to
be a breakwater where the falls tip over the edge.......looks a lot like an infinity pool really.
There definitely is a wall there. In the lower picture set, if you scroll over? You can see one of the guides standing on it to take pictures from
above. His bare feet are also in a few inches of moving water. It takes water moving faster than that, of course, but a few inches can be enough to
take a whole passenger car off a road way.
The other thing I'd sure be unable to forget? Well...not being a water park or Disney property, nothing is maintained or properly inspected. Water
erodes everything without let up and some day, those rocks will fail by how nature works.
*Just for added thrills, other stories on this place do mention that deaths happen occasionally with people misjudging things and going over the top.
I saw this on Globe Trekker one night, it was incredible. A guide took the girl who was the Trekker that night out into that pool, carefully, .
I am not sure I would have the courage.
It is actually scarier getting there than being in the pool the footpath along the falls is not fenced also the rocks along the foothpath are slippery
due to the mist from the falls. It cost $20 US to get into the park and dealing with locals can sometimes be a hassel. Don't forget your malaria
pills otherwise it is pretty fun. Make sure to travel with a group don't wander off on your own that will keep you safe although I did a few times
without any problems. It is worth the adventure.

Those people should be arrested for attempted suicide.
Clearly the section they are in is not very fast flowing.
It's not something i'll ever be seeing with my own eyes as i've opted out voluntarily from ever going to Africa as I enjoy my already momentary
life, going there is just a significantly greater increase to shortening it.
Yeah there are some bad parts but to be honest there are places in the US that would be more dangerous.
Ahhem..... Detroit for one.
I travel a lot I try to visit at least 2 different countries a year and what I have found is the media has seriously overhyped the dangers in the
world for the most part. There are exceptions but my rule is if journalists can go so can I.
I see what is going on! Did you check it out? There is a rock wall around the Devil's Pool that the water flows over, but it provides a barrier for
the swimmers, like a safe wall.
That's why it is safe... arrested? nah. This isn't in the U.S., people are free over there.

I would need some serious encouragement getting in that pool. If.i was there with a group of girls, who all got in, then you'd have to man up. It
looks like an amazing experience.
