We knew its been coming, and have been warning everybody. Your email, credit cards, car alarms and door codes, WIFI, cable, dish, bank ccounts, phones, computers, webcam...all of it. All can be hacked.

This is what Ive been saying too. We've come SOOOOO dependent on electronic things and the "newest gizmos"...that we just buy them...get dependent on them, and dont think of the consequences.

Its finally happened. I dont think there is anything or anywhere that cannot be hacked. And...we are still depending on these "conveniences" to make our lives simpler.

I dont know of any good answers to this, but we needed a wakeup call, and this is just one of them.

It's scary how the future is changing. Now people like pervs and criminals do not have to break into your home. They can hack whatever device and then still any information you use. It's insane.

once upon a time - in a galaxy far far away - parents actually kept their children in the same room

We used camera's until @ age 3 with both of our kids. We kept the kids in our room for the first 8 months-1 year but after that....they went to their own rooms.

It would be better if people just weren't such pervs that I'd even have to consider keeping my children in my room. What's next...bars on the windows?

I would bribe the cops to give me this guys home address an hour or so before they showed up, just so i could make a proper point to him about respecting children.

Preferably by pounding a dozen 10 Penny nails into his spinal column with a ball peen hammer.

But thats me.

Of course i think the same thing every time i get cut off in traffic and i haven't done it....yet.

"There's no proof I did anything. Besides, they should have had a firewall on that monitor."

That's a creepy perv pick! The pix on the walls really do add a bit of 'sickness' to it!

Funny post though!

That probably isn't far from reality....

I agree!!!!

I want to see all of the pictures taken...err...I mean evidence.

(Hey, she's a 19 year old adult and I'm under 40! I'm not old enough to be considered a dirty old man just yet)

This is what 56% of the public wants, right?

If that child had nothing to hide what does it matter if somebody is watching or listening?

That kid could have been in Al Quaeda!!

Maybe the guy watching was a TSA agent? It's all good.

I haven't heard anyone actual defend it that way yet. I have heard people blaming the parents rather than the perv.

It's hysterical to me people want to have it both ways.

Totally cool to spy on you because you "have nothing to hide" yet its totally outrageous to spy on you for no reason or nefarious reasons.

You cant have only altruistic voyeurs. Pervs, crooks and abusers will get through.

So if anyone is of the mind that backdoors, intrusions, scanning, etc... are acceptable then they must have reconciled that weirdos calling children "dirty sluts" over baby monitors is also acceptable.

Just like police kicking in wrong addresses to shoot pets and terrorize families has also been deemed acceptable.

There will be abuse if spying is deemed acceptable. Period.

Outrage that some guy was watching your kid. Give that guy a plastic badge and a federal pension and suddenly it's the "cost of freedom."

Did they catch the "hacker"? Maybe it was paranormal?

Many parents will no longer display the traditional "It's A Girl" or "It's A Boy" decorative pink/blue signs, ribbons, balloons in the front of their home in celebration and announcing their new bundle-of-joy arrival.

It clues the pedophiles and child-porn stalkers as it screams, " Baby Lives Here"... plus the pedo/stalker will always know the baby's gender and birth date or approximate birth date of the child as long as they live there.

REMEMBER that NOTHING you send wirelessly is secure and I mean NOTHING. Your cell phone is nothing more than a radio transmitter. The information that you send over your home wireless network can me seen with the right equipment.

This is so typical of people these days.

"I didn't secure my stuff. I know, BLAME IT ON THE HACKERS!"

While viruses and hackers do exist, 99% of cases like this are down to people being too lazy or too technically illiterate to read the manuals and secure their networks.

The camera in question is an IP camera with a built-in webserver and control panel.

Not only could he have blocked it at the router, he could also have defined an access password in the built in webservers control panel before putting it on the internet.

This camera wasn't hacked. Some low life found that he had seriously misconfigured it, and took advantage.
