The July 2013 issue of Wired Magazine has an article by James Bamford, a US writer who focused on the NSA in several of his books, most recently The Shadow Factory: The Ultra-Secret NSA from 9/11 to the Eavesdropping on America. Here's a link to that entire article on one page:

www.wired.com...

See especially the summaries of the various NSA departments. These include CSS, the Central Security Service; US CYBERCOM (US Cyber Command); CAE (Centers for Academic Excellence); SCS (Special Collection Service - covert eavesdropping from US embassies around the world); JFCC-NW (Joint Functional Component Command for Network Warfare ... this was folded into Cybercom in 2010, per Mr. Bamford.)

Following the end of this Wired article, see also the 332 comments at the bottom of that page. Some of the comments are illuminating.

In Wired Magazine's issue number 20.04, James Bamford previously wrote about the NSA's then-new Utah data center. The e-mail address for James Bamford is given: [email protected]
