What happens when a 14 year old kid decides he is in fear of his life as his father or mother or both are whipping his ass at home for whatever reason.
The kid is frightened to death and runs to the room and gets his fathers gun and the parents are yelling, “Jimmy, jimmy, where the hell you going, we haven’t finished whipping your ass, come back here.”

Jimmy though is scared to death at this point and thinks that they, his parents, are trying to kill him, so he runs back in the living room where they were whipping him and when he reaches the scene blows his parents away.

Stand your ground.
People knew they were good parents and really wouldn’t have hurt little Jimmy, who was often delusional, but they died anyway and because of Stand Your Ground Jimmy went on to be a good defense attorney specializing in stand your ground cases

Two teenagers, one 16 years old and the other 15 are having your average elementary school fist fight over some insult and one of them is getting pummeled pretty good and actually they're alone in an alley way in back of the school. Also the 16 year old kid had run home earlier and got his mothers gun he knew she kept under the bed.

It just so happens that this is the kid, in the fisticuffs, who is getting the shellacking of the two.
After the 15 year old gives him a good whack on the nose and the blood starts squirting out of the 16 year olds nose, he takes out the gun and shoots to death the 15 year old kid.

He told the authorities that the 15 year old bully took him in the back of that school yard with a promise of some good weed, and just started beating him up over an old grudge, and he just so happened to be taking his mothers gun to get fixed.

Stand your ground.
Everybody felt sorry for the kid who had all those bruises on his face and was forced to stand his ground.

A creepy sexual pervert one night was cruising around the neighborhood and happened to see a voluptuous 14 year old girl. He follows her for a time, and then decides to get a little closer to her so maybe she sees what he is doing. She stops at a crosswalk and he rides up to her and ogles the girl like the creep he is. She notices him and then she gets scared. She starts to run and he still is after her. She runs a little more and turns around and notices the creep still following her.

A block down from the two happens is her father who sees this, becomes furious, and quickly runs to the scene and confronts the creep. He goes to the car and grabs him inside the car and they go at it and all of a sudden a gun shot is heard. People near the scene run to where the shot has rung out.

On the sidewalk is a dead man, the girls father, inside the car is the creep with a bloody nose and 2 small gashes on his head

Stand your ground.
Nobody believed the 14 year older, they just thought that the aggressor who attacked the creep was a hot headed guy and a bully who had car jacked the creep. And even though the creep, to avoid an ass whipping he deserved, could have just rode away in his car he knew that stand your ground would save him as he blew away the little girls father.

He got a good defense attorney and again no one believed the little girl, so
the creep went to a successful career of molesting numerous children.

Little Johny is home alone. There's a nasty creep outside with a gun and he's breaking the door down. Little Johny sits by his fathers gun. The creeps in the house now and he shouts to little Johny what he's gonna do to him when he finds him. Little Johny picks up the gun and shoots the creep on site.

Well done little Johny.

Stand your ground is a dangerous extension of self defense law. It puts the use of lethal force in a highly subjective and non-physical domain. With more guns per capita than any nation on Earth the US is sliding further into chaotic self consumption.

There are as many bizarre inversions of justice as there are people.

Maybe I'm seeing things differently, but from my study of Florida's SYG law, it's not a self defense law (these I'll touch on in a bit). From what I understand is that the law is in place to protect someone who was protecting themselves. It basically eliminates the obligation to try and escape your attacker above all else. You are only able to really meet force with similar force (ex: TM punching GZ should have been met with punching). Yet, there is the bit about fear for loss of life that allows an escalation of force. It's much like a police officers rules for escalation of force. It is not, as some would have you think, a get out of jail free card to murder someone. After a trial that seemed to lean towards conviction, the jury could not find reason to convict.

Self defense laws are in almost every state. Even California has one, believe it or not. But the extent of these laws are mostly for protection of life and property upon your own property. However, in California, you're most likely to get sued for defending yourself and lose. So, blaming the law is not going to accomplish much.

Should we blame the justice system? The laws? The judge and jury? The prosecution and defense? When you begin to target the justice system and how the trials go, you're dangerously close to violating the 6th amendment. A fair (to some) trial was had and a verdict was passed. Complaining about it trying to get it changed is like complaining that your sports team lost and you want the outcome of the game overturned.

Not "stand your ground" because the kid left the room to get the gun.

And to prove your point - look at the genocide the black people of inner city chicago are doing on their own race.

Small children killed in the crossfire of black on black crime - in the most strigent "gun control" city in america.

That's why the rest of us are armed.

And the drones......

Since when is punching eachother become socially acceptable? It's not in my white world.

OK, so the innercity generation seems to think that it is acceptable for junior high age school girls to play at "fight club" and love to film themselves at their antics - either on eachother - or adults just going through their daily routines at the bus stop -

This is not OK - this should not be "socially acceptable" Just watch HIP HOP STAR website to see what is deemed "acceptable behavior" among a certain group of people these days.

IT IS NOT OK.

The real tragedy is that someone thought SYG was necessary at all because there are prosecutors and judges out there who would argue you should have run away rather than fight back.

Imagine trying the survivor of an attack for surviving.

Every law has a catalyst. SYG is no exception.

Whether such a trial has actually taken place or is merely fiction is irrelevent since the lack of faith in the system to believe such a trial could happen is evidence enough of a system failure.

If I would have been there and witnessed young people beating up an elderly black man in a Chicago train station - I would have shot at the teenagers - I would have "stood the elderly man's ground" and have done something to protect him from an unprovoked "beat down" by a bunch of thug teenagers.

Would you have?

Stand Your Ground is simply a hearing that a Defendent can request before the actual trial in FL before a judge.
Thats it!

& it was not used in by the Zimmerman Defense!

Every state has a self-defense law...are people just stupid?
It's a court procedure.

Nope not stand your ground, he left and came back. If you disengage it is no longer standing your ground.

Based one what is posted there they might get out of the murder charge. If during the trial it came out he took the gun, well yea that is murder 1. If not he will still end up in jail for possession of a firearm, and the parents could get charged and tossed in jail as well.

Stand your ground would apply in this scenario. Unfortunately by law the father attacked the man which is not permissible. While I would be sympathetic to the girl for her loss he father was in the wrong as you can not just attack someone because they bother you. Now if the guy would of touched her then that would be a different story.

These cases you have presented focus more on trying to make people emotional.

Last I checked law is not emotional.

This one is not stand your ground ether

This is the castle doctrine.
en.wikipedia.org...

though the liberals in Calif might arrest Johny's father for not having the gun secured in a gun safe where Johny would not have been able to get it.

People seem to believe that stand your ground laws are a license to murder at will. If you listen to the media SYG is being termed as an unreasonable extension of self defense, when all it really is to the eyes of the law and the people is an affirmation that the so-called "duty to retreat" is nothing more than a chance a license for the perpetrator to shoot you in the back.

I firmly believe these notions of retreating are thought up by people who have never had to defend themselves, who do not understand life and death situations, and who will never understand tactical issues.

Just like that arbitrary 10 round limit on mags. Makes you wonder how many firefights these anti gun people have been in to make the determination that you only need 10 rounds.
