Just pass over the topics. After a while you can tell most of what going to be redundant by the title. If not then read the op only and you can generally tell what direction is going to take. Most of the time but not always.

As a newbie, I'm just shocked that this community gets so wrapped up in the "mainstream" stories that the media obviously uses as distractions. Anyway, I did notice a lot of threads about this case and tbh, it's kind of annoying to see so many on one subject. Would just be nice if people could keep it to a few threads or post in existing threads about the topic whenever possible, imo.

It's simple. When an issue's hot, everyone wants to comment and see how people respond to that comment. A person leaves a comment, comes back a day later, and has to scroll through hundreds of other comments that have collected in the meantime just to find his/her remark and the responses. It's kind of a bummer. Starting a new thread each time you want to make a comment isn't the answer, but if there is new info or you have a new angle, then why not. If there gets to be so many threads on something, the mods can make it its own forum topic, and obviously, it deserves its own topic because this is a site for user-generated content and that's what the people want. Go start your own site if it's not to your liking.

If you don't care about Zimmerman, don't worry. Your government has some local tailor-made incident all prepared for you in order to inflame racial tensions.
