See, that is what I do not get.

I am constantly told by these cityfolk about how racist I am, yet my group of buddies are a diverse group, none of which are my own race.

In my over three decades of existence, I have never even so much as looked at someone funny because the color of their skin.

Yet I am somehow a racist . . .

This post is great, and sums up my feelings exactly. It was only to the media and loony knee jerk radicals that this was about race. To me, race has zero bearing on the facts of the case, for me, it is all about the right to defend oneself from physical harm and being attacked. The race issue in this case is a fabricated one. Zimmerman did not know Martin's race when he decided to follow him, only found it out when they were up close and personal.

I believe justice was served because Zimmerman was acquitted for self defense. Which is really what this case should be about.

I'll agree with that. But is killing always necessary in order to escape being a victim?
Of course not. Responsible gun owners know when to use deadly force.

George knew when to use it.......he held out longer than I would have.

What would be more torture in the mind? Knowing that you killed someone when it may not have been necessary, or that you were a victim for a short time but lived to tell about it?
If I was justified in using deadly force I wouldn't have to consider either of your scenarios.

I guess they missed the part where the jurors were decribed, one being black mother of 7 who used to reside in chicago... That single woman could have hung the jury and caused a mistrial. Yet she did not, she along with the others found him not guilty. This racist crap is disgusting.

hummm, I can't argue with that. Blind bullets, can kill on accident. Nevertheless, I still think Zimmerman reacted to fast. From the sound of it he didn't make much effort, just pulled the trigger. Oh well, the court said it was justified so my opinion doesn't matter.

Circular system of self-defeating insanity.

There is no black way, or white way, nor yellow nor brown ways.
There are dumb ways and smart ways, and all humans have a choice which they want to pursue.

Those who harm the liberty of others arbitrarily over their own mental illusions and delusions are committing a very real crime and are also being very stupid. No matter what color that person's skin may or may not be.

thats so very true, hopefully people out there will see it that way as well

I have been beat up a few times and even though they only took seconds to work me over.. it felt like an eternity...

bet zimmerman figured he took enough before pulling his gun.

and why would you want to wait till you were unconscious before you would defend yourself anyways??

For the sake of discussion, could you elaborate on "from the sounds of it"?

From what I understood, Martin sucker punched Zimmerman, ended up on top of him, continued to assault him (while Zimmerman cried for help) and then noticed he had a gun and reached for it, at which point Zimmerman shot him out of desperation. Could you relate which parts of the case make you think zimmerman didn't make an effort?

And yet another disturbingly racist post from the same poster... Listen, take a break, get out of the city, come to rural america, let us show you how we live and how we treat each other. Learn how the breadbasket of the US really feels about ethnicity. You will be shocked..!!! I challenge you to chase the "Oil Field" and get paid well while experience a side of life that you have yet to do. Get away from the constant culture inflicted angst, then you might begin to understand others of any ethnicity.

Are you talking to me... cause it sure doesn't sound like it.

I live in the boonies surrounded by rednecks... grew up around rednecks.

Some of them are ok, but this is definitely not the culture I admire. Not in the least.

You know what a banishment law is? In Georgia they can banish you for crimes, like pedophilia but they cannot banish you out of the state... so there is one county left where the criminals can still go and I live a few miles from the border of that county. It is full of white, meth head pedophiles. They hide this fact on paper but if you spend any time in this county... you'll see. It's very rural and white.

I prefer the country over the city so I have no idea what you are talking about.
I stay away from people and really only deal with them when I absolutely have to due to numerous reasons. Most people I just don't like talking to because they are interruptive and I think their opinions are very bizarre, but many people, mostly male, make extremely uncomfortable because they are constantly conniving and constantly trying to get laid and using the stupidest tactics possible and they make my skin crawl.

I have people I like, but they are not around here. This is something I'm working on.

Where you are is not as important as the company you keep and I have no idea why you would think that if I move to a rural location that everyone is just going to be the type of people I get along with. I think that is kind of a weird thing to think.

For the most part I just stay away from people until I can change my situation... even at tech school, I just think most people are just bat crap insane and have the dumbest thoughts.

I said it in the other thread too, thank god at least 6 people were not brainwashed by the media to the point where they had their minds made up before hearing the evidence (or lack thereof).

This is a great opportunity for me to follow my curiosity and learn more about how law works in that state.

Something seems off about having a jury of only 6 peers.
I want to learn about this and find out how they explain things it probably makes rational sense but due to my ignorance it seems strange and foreign.

If I find anything really weird I will bring it back up but I am assuming I am just going to learn about things I didn't know that probably make at least partial sense.

That threw me off too, i have a pretty good knowledge of the law, but look it up. The history is pretty interesting, if you are really into that thing you can PM me and i can send you the cases to look at. I don't really agree with it but its not really that strange.

Fight or flight...he had no chance to flee and instinct took over and someone died....horrid situation all round but it is self defence.
I just hope everyone stays safe and no one hurts another over this.

Fractions of seconds count during any physical altercation, escaltion can occur almost instantly. Had his head hit the pavement one more time, only just a bit harder, it could have killed him.

That is why he allowed himself to get beaten up and scream "Help" like a little biach. Didn't he scream help for about 3/4 of a minute?

....he reacted too slow.

Oh well, the court said it was justified so my opinion doesn't matter.

It does matter, opinions are what make up societies and change laws.

Ok. But how could u justify using deadly force against a teenager with no weapon? Your older, smarter, and probably a little more skilled when it comes to fighting. So how could you justify killing when your life is really not at risk? Maybe paranoia set's in. I guess that would be enough justification huh?

doubt anyone will riot or anything like that. we are pretty servile in this day and age.
people will just tweet and complain about things a little bit more.

I commend Geraldo for standing up to the mob outside the courthouse tonight, and to the pundits of the liberal media that were there..

He was only one that I saw that did not feed the racial flames of hatred that was brewing.

He said it best: "All tragedies are not crimes."

As I stated much earlier in this thread, I'm a black woman who has supported George Zimmerman from DAY ONE and I shouted and cried tears of joy when the verdict was read.

But many of my family and friends are steaming hot at me for supporting George, and how my celebration of his acquittal is somehow a celebration of Trayvon's death, and that is sick and twisted of them to say to me.

You seem very intelligent. It's a shame you are letting prejudice cloud your vision of the world around you. There is more than just the inbred backwoods white trash of Georgia out there. Don't let the negative people you've experienced turn you into one of them.

Someone on tops of you, pounding your head against the ground, don't you think Zim was scared #less? I would be..like I said the fight or flight instinct that we all have kicked in and he had to fight.
I doubt very much many people in his position would have acted differently.

Anytime someone is attacking your head, your life, and quality of life are in danger though. If someone is on top of you pounding away, chances are they are trying to seriously injure you, or in some kind of rage and not thinking at all.
