A car has slammed into the US embassy gates in Canberra, Australia, prompting drastic police response on Wednesday afternoon.

US officials were evacuated as Police searched the car for any threatening materials. It is believed that a 30 year old man has been arrested and is assisting Police with their inquiries.

The US embassy is reported to give a statement tomorrow in regards to the incident.
