The gunman, a retired Army sergeant major, turned himself in within the last hour, a Fort Sam official said. He was in the Army Medical Department Center and School headquarters when the shooting began but few details were available.
San Antonio police Chief William McManus said the woman, who is active military and in her mid-30s, was shot multiple times and that the injuries did not seem to be life-threatening.
