Texas News Shots fired at Fort Sam Houston; one injured

www.kvue.com

SAN ANTONIO -- A man with a gun was seen at the Fort Sam Houston gate in San Antonio Monday, and one person was rushed to a local hospital after shots were fired.

Officials say people reported shots being fired around 3 p.m.

The helicopter of our sister station KENS 5 was on the scene by about 3:15 p.m. and broadcast images of one victim being rolled on a stretcher to an ambulance.

The victim was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center. There was no word on the victim's condition.

Check back for more on this developing story.

Another day, another shooting ... so it seems. This looks like maybe a personal vendetta thing so far, with only one person being shot. But I wonder if the location bares some significance in the shooting. Those photos of the victim don't look good though.

So what is it with all the shootings? Is nearly everyone on some psychotropic drug? or were the the anti gun folks right?
I still stand by the 2nd amendment right though, either way

"...an armed society is a polite society"

Maybe someone cut in line or didn't cover their mouth whilst sneezing?

More generally speaking, an equally possible scenario is that a much larger percentage of shootings are being reported as "news" thus engendering the consensus of which some are part.

Unfortunately, the facts are that too many people suffer and die from the use of violence. It has always been so.... right?

If were to pick a place to be shot and survive, Ft. Sam Houston would be at the top of my list. They have a lot of first rate Docs there who are used to that kind of wound.

It's also home to one of CBWTU's (where Soldiers go to await surgery, or heal). I was in the east coast WTU as a patient a couple of years back and it was a miserable experiance. But that's a long story for another thread.

The gunman, a retired Army sergeant major, turned himself in within the last hour, a Fort Sam official said. He was in the Army Medical Department Center and School headquarters when the shooting began but few details were available.

San Antonio police Chief William McManus said the woman, who is active military and in her mid-30s, was shot multiple times and that the injuries did not seem to be life-threatening.
