Inspiring video of a little girl who has cleft lip surgery seeing her smile for the first time. All I think about it how this must hurt to smile so soon after her operation but, you see in the video the moment it sinks in that her face is changed. Remarkable.

I like to think this is one mission that will show the truly good and selfless side of human beings and their sincere desire and ability to do well when they decide to work together on something. It's not all bombs and slavery. Compare "Operation Smile" to the terrorist and you might hold out a little hope for humanity. Maybe we can be helped. In spite of recent tragedies, I see the glass as half full.

I hope everyone takes a break from the Boston Marathon tragedy and watches this video. It restores a little bit of faith in humanity. I sure lifted my heart a bit. Thanks for sharing, S&F!

Star and Flag... I think about it every day.

One one hand we have these guys worried about their ridiculous interpretation of God. One the other a Man who owns a country aiming missiles at arguably 2 of the nations SK and Japan that have the most potential in regards to stem cell research and anti aging medicine....

Just saying.... some cultures encourage their kids to be doctors...

That was absolutely the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long while
I swear if I had money I'd be broke in a week just to see children smile

Thank you for this thread

Such a change of pace from the doom and gloom

Funny. Like those potato chips you can't eat just one of.
Thanks for all the positive feedback from all.
Sometimes you need to get away from the headlines and regroup.

Thank you for posting such a heartwarming success. My first thought was to download it and burn it to a disc. I could show it to Students and perhaps inspire them - might kick start the desire to be medical professional who gives people a chance to live a regular life.

More power to the professionals who do this every day - you are awesome.

Much Peace...

I needed this today, thank you! Like all the rest here I'm blubbing like a baby but I don't care (and no one can see me!) and personally I fell in love with her smile before the operation. After the operation her reaction is just priceless.

Let there be love instead of all the nasty #!

It is good to see decency in human kind still. It is nice to see this kind of news rather then death and destruction all the time.

I tell you honestly, there are not many things in the world lately that tug at my heart, or make me even remotely proud to be part of the human race but, this....this is amazing. What a beautiful little girl and such a beautiful moment.

Now who's cutting onions in here?
