BREAKING NEWS: Former prime minister Baroness Thatcher dies peacefully at the age of 87 after suffering a massive stroke

Former Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has died of a stroke today aged 87.

I have no idea what this will mean to the people in the UK - or the world.

For me - I have a tremendous amount of respect for any great woman from her generation.

Rest In Peace Baroness Thatcher and peace to her family and nation.

Margaret Thatcher, born on October 13, 1925, in Grantham, England, became Britain's Conservative Party leader and in 1979 was elected prime minister, the first woman to hold the position.

So you're celebrating the death of this woman? Interesting.

How about tell us why once you've come back from your happy dance.

She was a woman of courage and a pioneer in her time. Even if you don't agree with what she did or didn't do - she deserves a modicum of respect.

Try growing up in Thatchers Britian and see how much respect you have for her.

Star for your reply.

I do not understand what it was like - I admite(d) that.

But - I also don't see the need to celebrate the death of anyone.

I grew up in the North East during her stint as PM and I'm well aware of the carnage she inflicted on many people.

I see no need for a celebration or express joy at her death. Sure she made some terrible political decisions but the way some people are taking the news it's as if Hitler had just died.

Have some respect!

I have lived under Margaret Thatchers government and that of Tony Blairs too. And I know

when I think we were better off. We were a solvent country then, and not impoverished

as we are now ... as left by the late labour government under Tony Blair/Gordon Brown.

How mature was Liam Byrne leaving an iou to the incoming government? - "sorry the coffers

are empty!"

When push comes to shove she had more balls than any prime minister since!!

I am from a small valleys town that used to have a thriving coal industry, now it is all unemployment.

This is only a small consolation but I'm going to celebrate!

I am wearing my Union Jack earings already!

Lets all do the conga, lets all do the conga....

Maybe you want to drag her body through the streets too?

Crikey, Britain's moral compass of compassion has really hit a new low.

Just now it is unemployed? Or was it such 20+ years ago; you know, when she was actually prime minister? I am sorry to hear of your town's plight, but if after 20 years they haven't found something to sustain their way of life, why are they still there? Move on or adapt and stop blaming past politicians on what was obviously something not viable.

good riddance to the evil old cow. very, very few tears will be shed in the UK (outside of the home counties) for this woman's passing. certainly not by me. in fact i just went to get the beers in to toast her demise.

My great great grandfather came to Durham in the late 1800's from Wales he was a miner

and came looking for work because there was no work in Wales at the time. That was

long before Thatchers time!...

What is the economic advantage of taking out coal when it costs more to do that than it sells

for?

I feel as if I’ve stepped on a land mine - but that’s ok.

Admittedly I don’t know much, if anything about the changes Baroness Thatcher made single-handedly for England.

But saying that? I also have a hard time believing any one woman (or man) can be - on their own - held accountable for such ‘evil‘. Remember, even Hitler had his henchmen.

Anyway - later today I’m going to read up more on her history. In the mean time if anyone has anything concrete to say about her job performance and wants to carry on a conversation in a respectful tone I would appreciate hearing what you have to say.

peace
