The major religions were embattled into indigenous peoples, through invasion and enslavement. The point is these far flung colonies never had a chance to evolve themselves.

They were screwed with or without religion. Religion was just a part of whole cultures assimilating other cultures. You would be hard pressed to pick true conquering nations that was driven by religion. I'm not saying there wasn't a few but I can name many more that we're not.

Obviously the first question those 10 people will ask is 'why are we here'?. This question invokes alot of creativity which could lead to inspiration for this art and these songs. Just because you aren't religious doesn't mean you should oppose it so heavily.

I agree, they were just historic examples. They were huge, but i think you can transcibe them down as metaphors for any religeous intervention, that has stifled us as free thinkers and creators of our own destiny.

I believe religion was still necessary for the advancement of our species. It is sort of a precursor to law. Once humans were introduced to religion they became more than just animals. However with the advent of science I believe that religion is no longer necessary and that we must abolish it to move on as a species. Good thread my friend.

Religion yes or at least gain understanding of what the spiritual knowledge the religions point at. I know some people here will believe science is right and superstition is wrong. But maybe the the scientist should try to understand why people really believe what they believe. If you do not seek what truelly is and disregard thing because you do not like what they point at then you will never seek what is true an only create a system of lies.

The scientist should learn from Galileo Galilei and never be to sure of how much they know. Sometimes it is good to start over totally and not build on others since some thing you take for granted as proven can be completly wrong.

When science start to prove synchronicity (11:11 phenomena) and really quantifies the placebo effect then I will be interested again in what they are saying. As long as scientist runs away from uncomfortable hard questions/observation of reality then I will still think of them as small minded even if it is not fair since they might not have observed the effect like me.

Whoever seek and observe and try to limit the own preconceived ideas of what is the truth will push the limit of their possibility to understand what really is.

I understand your train of thought, and maybe it has been one of many catalyists in our development, but has it been for our good? I belive not. Any grouping of people,a village, a tribe, will create its own culture. Its own art, music, morality etc. I belive everyone knows basic right from wrong, apart from the mentally deranged. I dont think we have ever needed religion. As i said before, I think it has held us back.

I might not think buddhism is perfect but how is buddhism holding a person back? Pushing the boundries of what you are with meditation trying to create one whole between everything that you are (body, conscious mind and unconscious mind). Have you ever met monks that are thought of as holy that have faced their own mortality to a level people normally do not? Do you really think that all that meditation do not give anything back. Just because it is not the road you choose do not mean their time is not well spent.

How have native american religion held them back when they lived in harmony with nature before the white man came?

What religion do you have a problem with. Islam? Christianety? Sikhism? Hinduism? Toltec? Taoism?

I agree. I would never lump buddhism in with the other mainstream religions. The earth and all its glories is the only real constant here. I have no problem with buddhism .

Religion and belief in god didn't cause the killing. Religion was used by people who wanted power to cause these events. Most times the church just let it happen in even though it was against the basics of the religions. Most religions are just misled as are most people. Ego and preservation of our desired way of life can cause us to do things that are not right to others.

So I guess you don't believe in Communism, socialism, atheism, human secularism, capitalism, marriage, sex, friendship, employment of any kind, city living, country living, or anything at all because people who do these things have killed because of it. You simply just don't like Christians so you have a need to hide and mask it in a tirade over religion. I understand it all perfectly well.
