Americans Must Watch; The true sentiment of the British!

My answer to 'guns kill people' is, 'guns do not manufacture themselves, people do, guns do not load themselves, people do, guns do not 'cock' themselves, people do, guns do not aim themselves, people do, guns do not pull their own triggers, people do, people kill people.
In the first full year of the gun ban in Australia, gun crime went up 40%.

I'm English, and I have to say that any american that thinks a video of some bigot is a subjective view of how most English people think is frankly a fool.

People are people no matter where they are from, and their oppinions are their own.

I'm English and I've talked to a lot of my fellow countrymen about guns, I'd say at least 80% are anti-gun.

But I suppose that is not the true sentiment of us British, right?

I have done the same and would agree with that number and even say it might have been higher than 80%. But maybe I am just hanging around with these left-wing liberal nut jobs people are talking about

Honestly, I was going to write 90% but I thought I'd err on the low side so as not be biased. The vast majority are against guns, though, yeah.

I am English and again I would say definitely do not bring the guns over here.

- In 2011 there were 8,583 murders due to shootings in America
- In 2011, there were 58 murders due to shootings in the UK. Factor in the population difference, the value only goes up to 290.

Of course had we English always had guns and then someone tried to take them away...I think that would be a different matter, which is of course the case in the USA. Can't put back the clock and neither can you give with one hand and take with the other.

And as for UK is getting more violent, maybe that's true maybe it isn't or maybe its just down to perception the media and the like. I'm lucky in a way I don't have tv never buy a newspaper so I'm not subjected to negativity day in day out. Doesn't make me naive though...I live 6mls from Bradford but although I'm aware of the violence there can be it doesn't affect me personally and I insist on seeing good as much as poss...keeps me sane! Can't see the point in filling your head full of negative crap that you can do nothing or little about in the first place.

Anyway the UK,the US are very different places.We don't have a culture of gun ownership over here where as it's part of your culture.2nd amendment,Wyatt Earp,John Wayne etc,etc.lol.

Nah it's ridiculous pie in the sky to imagine the US could ban guns or even if it would wise to try.Who's gonna hand them in anyway ??

Our law enforcement don't carry weapons,only specialised Armed Response Units and they only turn up where firearms are already involved.

They can't legally enter your house,in Scotland anyway,without a warrant issued by the Procurator Fiscal (Magistrate in England,DA ?? in the US) and if they do you'll prob get done with police assault if you resist too violently but in the end of the day there's not the paranoia about protecting yourself from the government over here like in the US - Unless you're up to stuff in which case that's hazard of the trade,so to speak.lol.

Why we aren't armed,the coppers remained unarmed which is the way the vast majority of coppers wish things to remain.

If the coppers were armed everyone knows the criminals who are pretty harmless otherwise may tool up.The nutters and psychos are more than capable of killing with broken bottles,machettes and golf clubs but most of the violence is amongst themselves.

Same as do the wannabe 'LA' style gangs in the inner cities who have illegal guns and shoot each other,though innocents do get caught in the middle.

More than once.One time by a guy out of it on 100+vals n god knows how much vodka who was was so riled up and wild he wanted to kill someone with a Micheal Myers type butchers knife.He ammusingly decided on me.
Well think someone on Angel Dust,only way to stop him to decapacitate him.

If I had a gun at the time I'd have shot him till he wasnt moving and prob killed him.As it was had to use my head,use his rage against him got him off balance,down on the floor n slammed a knee in his stomach,threw the knife,headbutt in the face,up few solid boots and walked off unhurt and no-one dead.

Few broken ribs n a shattered nose is what he got but thats better than dead.

You can keep your guns cos banning them is just closing the stable door and would put law abiders at real risk.

Over here it's a long way off public needing guns,don't get me wrong it's bad often and if you're in the wrong place,wrong time you're f****d but that's life

Theres 1,000,000 (a million roughly) people with legal access to firearms in the UK so to consider the fact that probably 1 in 60-70 has access to a weapon doesn't make us quite the disarmed country that people think we are and if thats the ratio for one of the most hardcore anti weapon countries in the world we aint that unarmed should we need it for defense and there's 4 shops at least within a short drive that sell guns and if i needed to tell the state to f---off then i'd be able to be armed withing an hour

Plenty of people in the UK own guns.....We just have a rather more discriminating approach to who has right to own them, nutters and known criminals (in theory at least) need not apply.

Doesn't always work though; we still get the occasional basket-case slip through the net, with the inevitable consequences.....And of course the subsequent calls for stricter gun controls.

Noted. Don't send weapons/ammo to the UK if they are attacked. England did not mind begging for weapons and ammo when Hitler was beating their door down. No, they dragged America into their war. We lost countless lives and the American people suffered greatly to secure your freedoms. You simply don't have a horse in this race.

Ever tried looking at what the British people suffered before you guys decided to join in....The US has never suffered anything close to what the nazi's did to places like London and in fact i don't think a bomb has ever been dropped on American soil so that going to be a point of contention as you never put your women and children under any risk of death unlike the British

Chill out guys.....Something really bad just happened over there (I think we can all agree on that regardless of our opinions on the cause) and emotions are running high.

Lol...there are 1,000,000 licensed concealed weapon permit holders in Florida alone...I am proudly one of them...it's an American thing.

Let's all settle down and just accept that those who are vehemently pro-gun are simply paranoid, insecure losers with low self-esteem issues; who need guns to compensate for their extremely small penises. (Or their husband's small penis, in the case of female pro-gun Sarah Palin types.)
