Is What Mitt Romney Said the 47% True?

Mitt Romney's speech nothing more then pandering to his handlers? I think his comments about the 47% are his real opinion.Let's look at it from another point of view.

He's probably about right.... Since I'd only disagree in single digit numbers, I'll assume he did his homework after being made a fool of recently on another budget matter. I'd be really worried if he made the very same blunder twice. lol.. This is the budget board I made awhile back and it shows what he's saying within the top table of numbers pretty well.



The trick of course is that Romney is being specific in this words and ONLY including Federal Income Tax as I read it. Most people under about $50,000 or so get a return and don't pay in a real sense. The far right of the top area of the chart shows how much in real terms all the taxes combined average out to hit each group. Again though.. ..only federal. It's not the taxes Romney talks about that makes a $30 carton of cigarettes here a $70 one in New York or has people in paying radically different taxes of all kinds from one area to another.

First, here are the numbers I think Romney was using...and this first is the % based display.



and for everyone who doesn't know what a quintile is either...and thinks my board up there is a bit too fuzzy (Still working on that save issue.. Hmm..) here is the Gov't report section defining in real numbers what 1% looks like.

and of course.. it tends to show the actual problem too. As the economy gets worse, the people still high enough in that chart to be called the big targets, shrinks. It's already a bit surprising to see how low it gets to be among the 1%. I would have thought many millions would have been the starting point.

Oh..and if you quite literally want to have your night ruined...or made...depending on the state you live in, take a look at this little gem.
