Just food for thought, and meant in a truthfullly non-argumentative waym your argument works more than one direction... for example... maybe people
who paid less attention to others might well develop a better understanding of their own personal shortcomings or areas of potential for growth.
Having said that. I do agree that many people in the world become so self-absorbed that they seem to lose the ability to empathize or relate to others
on any meaningful level. But no "cleansing" could resolve this issue. A new crop of inwardly focused people would simply step up to replace the ones
who'd disappeared.
The answer always lies in the tired old cliche "Be the change you want to see", Effect just one life in a positive manner and you nearly guarantee
that the person you help will end up helping another. It only takes one act of dignity, respect, or kindness to alter another persons entire world
perspective. And if we all put forth effort to do our best at making this happen... we wouldn't need dreams of a heaven because we'd be creating one
right here and now.
