We raise our own Angus, grass fed, hormone free, and lightly grained at the end. We name them things like hamberger and grissel lol.
But the point of the post is, many many cattle ranchers are selling off their cattle due to the drought and feed costs. The calf and heffer counts are
well diminished too. (our future meats)
While my cows are close to slaughter, it will cost us about 3 bucks a pound for all cuts to stuff the freezers.
Even walmart steaks are priced multiples above that now.
Now factor in the feed corn futures for the current grow, and that will make it worse.
Dont be surprised to see a standard steak go above 20 bucks a pound by next year.
And that will last a couple few years too.
I like chicken, but I love the beef.
