"Hope Porn" and a dangerous idea about channeling

First off, let me preface this post with a couple statements.

One, I don't really browse ATS anymore. I came back to make this post because I felt the idea warranted floating, and this is the only conspiracy forum I have an account with. I couldn't find any good blogs where this idea would be topical or relevant to the current discussion. I posted this idea in Skunkworks because I know it's too goofy to go in a more dignified forum like Metaphysics or Aliens.

Next, I don't believe in channeling. I believe that most channels are hoaxes, and the other few percent are people tapping into their subconscious and interpreting their own desires and expectations as being delivered from a 'higher source.' If there actually ARE beings that exist on spiritual planes adjacent to our own, I strongly believe that most legitimate channels would be the work of tricksters or otherwise malevolent spirits playing pranks.

And that's sort of where I got this idea from.

A lot of David Icke's disciples, and the other New Age UFOlogy sects that have descended from his writings, believe in Reptilian aliens that feast on negative emotions, and that this explains why videogames, pop culture, news media, national governments and such are engineered to generate lots of fear, anxiety, sadness, etc...

Well, most channels we see fit into the 'Space Brothers' meme; most of the channeled beings are supposedly benevolent, Nordic aliens who like nothing better than to call us things like 'loved ones,' 'dear ones,' etc...

I believe that if Reptilians can enjoy 'eating' negativity, what's to say these Space Brothers don't get by on positive emotions such as hope, joy and love? If the channeled Space Brothers enjoy positive emotions as a delicacy the way Reptilians enjoy negative emotions, it would explain a lot.

Some channels have been going on for years, with more and more 'me toos' (I think David Wilcock, Ra's towel boy, of all people, coined that term) sprouting up. People channel Ascended Masters, and Pleiadians (sic?). They channel Merlin and the gods of Mount Olympus, as well as Discarnate Saints and the Great White Brotherhood. Of course who can forget famous ones such as the 'Archangels,' who include Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and a couple others. Then there's the famous SaLuSa, and all the councils and federations and commands of places like Ashtar and Andromeda and so on. There's Tolec and Hatonn and St. Germaine and you get the idea, I'm sure.

All of these channeled aliens repeat strikingly similar messages. While some true believers would take this as evidence that the aliens must be right ("They all corroborate each other!") I'm sure most of us realize this is the work of New Age copycats. Their stories generally follow the same formula:

"Magnificent loved ones, your Space Family is watching over and protecting you. We're almost in position to swoop in and cleanse the Earth of the evil that has taken hold of it. Your soulgroup has sent out an etheric cry for help and we will surely answer it shortly. As we speak, our Earth Allies are preparing to arrest the parasites, and then we will reveal ourselves, gloriously, to you and usher you into the age of Ascension..." Truncated, yes, but expand the above monologue by a few paragraphs and you have any number of channeled messages from the past 10+ years. These channeled aliens seem to be stalling quite a lot.

Are these Space Brothers actually stringing along New Agers and thriving off the 'good vibes' provided by their human worshippers? Does that make them just as 'bad' as the Reptilians?

Of course this is all just a hypothetical question seeing as how none of these aliens really exist. But still, if they did, I believe that they would be no better than the equally fictional Reptilians. They'd just be using us in a different way.

All that would matter in my opinion is, does it feel better to feel good or does it feel better to feel bad? Who cares if these hypothetical space aliens from another dimension are eating your positive vibes?

What are your thoughts on Edgar Cayce?

I have thought quite a lot about channeling as a phanomenon and I have come to some conclusions as well. I agree, that they are all similar and I don´t believe they are from real extraterrestrials. But I don´t believe bad reptians "theory" either.

I have a friend who's had some spirits work through him. They make him do horrible things such as watching CNN,C-SPAN and FOX. They successfuly convinced him that these stations are important for the human brain development. He needs your help. These spirits are casted from hell by these politicians, media and wealthy reptilians. They need to pay for my friends spirit treatment. Cash or cheque.

Let me preface by saying that David Icke is a moron. I could call him a liar and all that, but even more basic is that he is an utter idiot. So the whole "reptilians" and "nordic" stuff is BS, when stated by him. There are "reptilian" beings. Don't know where they are from, but I believe that there are being with lower eyelids (that blink the wrong way), clammy skin, etc, etc.

Regardless, you use of the term "hope porn" is awsome. Take that single idea and run with it. It is, in essence, what humans love more than real porn. It is why girls post their picture on facebook, with the caption "Ugh, im so ugly".

Great idea. I mean, without all the David Icke stuff.

Well for what it's worth...

One day I was being rather creative, having a lot of internal dialogue and just talking to myself and talking to others (all internal). Rather spontaneously I decided to search for some channels. It's normally not my thing but I was being spontaneous and curious. Well I won't give any details but someone channeled ME! It was just uncanny how my thoughts from moments earlier were there on display at some random website, apparently 'channeled'. It's certainly given me a new perspective on the whole idea of channeling.

Perhaps our creative internal dialogue is strong enough that it's sometimes 'picked up' by others and they 'channel it', meanwhile attributing it to some fancy mystical or alien personage. Or maybe we're merging with that personage while it's happening. There's definitely more to it than bored hoaxers and crazies. I would lean more towards finding answers in the collective unconscious mind.

I too have thought about how good entities may be feeding off us just like the bad, justifying it in their own self-righteous way. After all, good and bad are dualities. Reminds me of this quote by the artist Alex Gray:

"I had a vision of the group soul of humanity as a perfectly circular pool of intense living light. All around the rim of the milky pool were a complex variety of sexual rites, a metaphor for all social interaction. Translucent Hindu deities swooped over the group taking the excessive energy of the shimmering pool and passing through the group as ecstasy and pain. I saw that the reason we were all brought together was to provide a psychic energy feast for the Gods and Goddesses. I saw my heart as the axis of karmic, earthly, and universal energies, transected by and uniting the polarities of male/female, birth/death, good/evil, and love/hate. To maintain a balance of forces we all fed both Deities and Demons."
