MacKay apologizes over Russell Williams photo in
booklet
A "terrible mistake" involving the publication of convicted murderer Russell Williams's photo in a Department of National Defence booklet has prompted
an apology from Ottawa.
In a statement issued Wednesday evening, Minister of National Defence Peter MacKay said he "immediately ordered the military to destroy all copies of
the collected booklets" as soon as he became aware of their existence.
Frankly, this was really a non issue, Peter MacKay turned it into one himself. No doubt someones head will roll, likely someone who has no political
ties to the "Harper government" and will make a acceptable political sacrificial goat. Peter MacKay has managed to mess up everything he touches when
it comes to his term as Minister of Defence, Helicopter rides from fishing trips for photo ops, while the Military cannot even field a rescue aircraft
to find a missing teen on the ice, at least not until he is good and dead. The F-35 "deal", the list goes on and on.
I am sure he would love the photo op of him calling the families of Russell Williams, so let's give it to him, since he want to make it an
issue.
