I've seen quite a few, in multiple states across the south. Once when I lived in Atlanta, and while driving to Houston I saw one in Alabama and Louisiana.

No earthquakes here. =)

my father always called them "sun doggies" or "sun dogs"
he would say that when seeing those, the weather was supposed to remain the same for the next few days.
He grew up on a farm, and that's probably just crazy "farmer folk tale" talk. or something.

I think I might have an answer to that.

A transformer blew in Boston and there is a blackout underway.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Did this happen around 7:30?

What direction were you looking?

Amazing you got that on video BTW what were you doing, or did you have a smart phone handy?

I guess Boston would have been in the other direction, in any case it seems the area may be getting some strange solar or earthquake activity.

Not seeing anything on USGS though.

There were recently some pretty sizable quakes among the fault lines in Mexico and Alaska though and a smaller one in OK.

Go look right now, somebody had posted from eastern canada reporting a gloomy looking bright sky. Do you see anything that looks like northern lights?

There are weird related threads popping up now, check out the recent posts, apparently you are not the only one seeing these things. I am pretty far south, don't know if I will see anything unusual, but gonna step out and have a look anyways.

That is a sun dog.........however, if you ever see this www.youtube.com..., proceed to change your shorts, and get out of dodge.

According to some folks, these anomalies occur within hours, or up to 110 days before the rattlin' begins.

Not exactly sound science
.....but definitely something that needs to be taken seriously.
