Santorum Thinks Foreign National, Obama-Is OK

If he's this uninformed about this serious breach of Our US Constitution---we don't need him!

Yes I know, never said they weren't. What I am saying however is that the differences between them is large enough that they could be considered different religion altogether not just different dominations. Look at Mormons as an example, they are considered Christian yet believe in a prophet not recognized by other Christian denominations, yet the Muslims do the same thing but are considered a different religion entirely.

If you do not think there are major differences between Catholic and Christian dominations go to a Catholic Mass and afterwards go to a Born Again one. Apples and oranges lol.

I was baptized, went to Sunday school for 3 years, did my communion, confirmation and penance and am able to take in the body and blood of Christ. But this was mostly due to my mother's wishes. I was mostly Atheist in my teens and had an experience in my early twenties. I now subscribe to no labels, but my beliefs are closest shared with Pandenthesim (not confused with Panthesim), but even that lacks so I simply call myself spiritual to avoid any confusion.

I am not here to offend anyone and I appologize if I did, I am just speaking about my first hand experiences and observations

Lets see...
at what point did the Catholic church which sanctioned all the God given royalty in europe EVER espose the constitutional principles which the US was founded on to escape the royalty foisted on the people by the catholic church?

oooops, Oh Yeah, NEVER!

then you have the protestants claiming the republicans represent "christian familly values" while their big do at Bohemian grove ( where people like Dick Cheney anounce their runs from) is the biggest employer of gay male porn stars in the universe...

who is backing all these people ( except RP) who are running anyway?
oh yeah, luciferian bankers who are commiting vote fraud in EVERY election we know of.

you can't make this stuff up....without being high on glue

kill the unbelievers! yeeeeHA!

Ha, Ha! Have I got a joke for you guys! Would you like to know how naive I am? For just a moment I thought ATS was going to rationally and objectively explore the candidates' positions so we could come to a reasoned conclusion. Isn't that a howler!

Granted, that fit of naivete passed, but it was there. Paul's issues have been discussed openly and repeatedly. So have Obama's. To a limited extent, so have Romney's.

But Santorum's policies? Not in a million. People find religious speeches made to religious groups and declare that he will issue executive orders requiring people to eat fish on Friday. "He must be nuts to have religious beliefs, let's find places where he exhibits those beliefs and laugh."

Who knows what his tax policy is, or green energy, or relations with the UK and other allies? Where are the substative threads?

I'm trying to decide on a candidate here, and ATS isn't clarifying the issue. But again, I admitted I was naive.

Santorum speaking as a Presidential candidate reminds me of why there is a separation of church and state. Nonetheless, I think what he meant was that Protestants had not been acting like Christians in his opinion.

Any RC who still attends Mass in Latin and champions such hardline conservative RC dogma is pretty much way out in right field. Nonetheless, this article from 2006 paints a picture of a politician who can work with the opposing party on legislating liberal values.

I found this opinion to be what I would think...

Santorum is like a lot of my church buddies. Gay people make him squirm. He also gets self righteous and points his nose down at people who are not 100 percent like-minded. But I don’t think he’s evil.

A lot of the friends I disagree with on these issues would give you the shirt off their backs. We look after each other’s children and have complete trust in one another. We even like a lot of the same music. Some of the most religiously devout people I know are Metallica fans.

We don’t really discuss politics. We talk about our jobs, our families, Boy Scout activities and cigars (though I don’t smoke them anymore). We have deep discussions about addiction and mental illness, because we all have it in our families. On the rare occasion politics enters the conversation, we bust each other’s balls, laugh and move on.

I suspect Rick Santorum is pretty much the same way when he’s not in front of the cameras. He’s probably a decent human being who would help his neighbor in a time of need.

But if any of my friends ran for office, I wouldn’t vote for them. It’s nothing personal.

I just find some of their ideas zany, and they feel the same about me.

Santorum doesn’t strike me as evil. He does, however, strike me as the wrong guy to put in the White House.

Actually, for me, I really, truly believed he told a lie when he said he wasn't referring to "blacks" when he said "blaaa...", and I didn't like the fact that he really, truly believed he could get away with it.

I've had enough of far right conservative fundamentalist religious dogma and values. For over thirty years I've had to hear about being "born again", Satan, gays, abortion, how God loves America and the free market, creationism, , "End Times", Left Behind etc., told so loudly in the public square that a muezzin calling from a city minaret would be impressed. According to Rick, however, we're still corrupt! Rick, sorry to break it to you, but I think we need less, not more, of that old time religion.

And it matters what Santorum thinks... if he's a ``Battle of Armageddon, start a war in the middle-east so Jesus come back``... it matters... cause he's a nut and he got to control thousands of nukes.

What really makes that scenario scary is he would work hand-in-hand with Zionists who also want to unleash Armageddon so they can rebuild the third temple (or is it 'rebuild the third temple so they can unleash Armageddon'?) They may say 'God will rebuild the 3rd temple' but really, it will be man, and it will be after those men nuke the rest of the Middle East into oblivion. That's the problem with Doomsday Prophecy believers, they make it a self-fulfilling prophecy through their own actions.

You know, when Ron Paul says that Santorum is fake, I don't really get it because Santorum has ALWAYS been uber-religious and homophobic. This is who he is and has been since anyone knew who he was. He may be a religious, closed-minded nut-job, but he's REAL. He's a REAL prejudiced religious nut and always has been.

He may be a REAL prejudiced religious nut, but he's still a FAKE human being. As far as being 'uber-religious' - I don't think so - he's just uber-opportunist, and religion is the easiest path to power in Rethuglican politics.

Catholic doctrine does not support Zionism. Zionism is based on the faulty assumption that God still owes the Jews the land He promised to give to Abraham’s descendants. Scripture, however, teaches that God has already fulfilled His promises to the Jews. Zionism is an anti-Catholic movement that attempts to remove the Church as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies, and the only authoritative voice for interpreting these prophecies. By turning Scripture into a wax nose for their own political and religious fantasies, Zionists make the Jews and Israel, and not the New Testament Church, the focus of God’s divine plan. Zionism is blatantly false and has no basis in Sacred Scripture or Tradition. Some Catholic polititians are for sale, however.

www.scripturecatholic.com...

The crucial fact is found in the New Testament truth which tells us that our position in Christ is not impacted by those who seek to use the prophets and the Bible to move an agenda forward. “The kingdom of God is within you” Jesus told us, and the idea that you may have any Israelite blood in your family line is completely irrelevant to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The emphasis on a physical form of Israel — whether embedded within Euro-American history or found in present day Jerusalem — is a rabbit trail that turns the believer’s attention to the world, instead of the much deeper Gospel of the kingdom of God which is found in Jesus Christ.

Sorry but this is what Santorum has to offer. You are blaming people for focusing on his basically only platform. Do you not get the significance? His tax policies, foreign relations policies, etc. matter not to him. He only cares about talking about how rottenly unCatholic we are.
That is his fault, not ours. That should tell you what you need to know about him, not us.

Christians do not pray to Mary or pay homage to statues.
These are actually very important Christian rules.
You should know. They are in your Catholic bible.

This is a little off topic but what?
That sounds like some unverified, unprovable, unbackable Alex Jones BS right there.
I hope to find out I am wrong.

Please explain how that is not passing judgement on an entire group of people based on their religion.
I am eager to see one of these spankings you speak of. Maybe I better wait until you get back up.

Seeing as how I posted a couple posts before work and I am just now seeing you for the first time since getting out of work, I am not sure how I can follow you around today. Is that what you call two posts in the same threads as you?

'Defense' ..?? No ... 'defense'. Just facts.

"facts" used to offer a defense. It was a defense whether you want to admit it or not. Words mean things no matter how much posters on ATS wish they did not.

The OP quoted a far left source and they misquoted what Santorum said.

Where is the misquote?

He never said 'protestants are not real christians'

Who said he did say that? I did not say he ever said that. I actually read what he did say. I pointed that out in my last post as well.

Are YOU defending the fact that the news source (and the OP) entirely misquoted someone?

Show me the misquote.

Misquoted .. thus presenting falsehoods?
Or is that okay because it goes along with your own bias?

I responded to what Santorum actually said. Even according to you it is what he said. If you have a problem with someone else lying about something, tell it to them.

He is making an observation that people who are christians do not behave like christians used to.
It's an observation. And, like it or not, he's correct. I gave just a few examples.

Neither the news source nor the article misquoted Santorum.
So you claiming they did is what?
Lying.
So you are trying to ask me if I support lies, when I have done nothing of the sort all while you are lying about this thread, the OP, and the quoted source.

Gotcha!

Not a Catholic, but, um, nothing against praying to anyone, actually. Prayer is just talking. Otherwise, whenever the English say something like, "Pray tell, what was the cricket score?", there in deep sheep. WORSHIP is reserved for God alone...prayer, not so much.

And btw, there's that whole bit about judge not, we are not the arbiters of who is a Christian or not, as we ain't quite qualified for the job.

Rick is spreading the crazy like no one business. I think it's funny how many people who support him scream about Iran and the crazy theocrats over there trying to get a bomb. Meanwhile they want their own theocrat with a bomb.

And no it's not ironic, it's just human nature.

Then keep your ignorant opinion to yourself.
Our bible actually explicitly forbids praying to anyone but God.
That is why it is kind of a Christian/non-Christian issue.
For Catholics, it is signifigant. For Christians it is the basis of the damn religion.
NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is great you feel that way. I am discussing a specific religion with specific rules against it.

Yup. I see Rick Santorum telling my Barack Obama is not a Christian. How Christian is Santorum for that?
