Pressure builds as eurozone ponders debt solutions

news.yahoo.com

The finance ministers were discussing ideas that until recently would have been taboo: countries ceding additional budgetary sovereignty to a central authority — EU headquarters in Brussels.

With Italy sinking rapidly into financial chaos, the eurozone's 17 finance ministers scrambled Tuesday to find enough money to give their rescue fund a veneer of credibility and world markets some reason to believe their embattled currency won't break up.

Italy's borrowing rates shot up above 7 percent Tuesday, an unsustainable level that already has forced three smaller EU nations to seek bailo

Amazing............Germany will conquer most of Europe with out ever firing a shot,Situation seems to have gotten out of control real fast to even consider this..

Seems the entire world is falling apart at some point or place. With the current economic times seems that war would benefit some countries. And with the sudden jump in the population a sort of the culling of the herd may take place.

This article kind of creeps me out because we all have our conspiricies about the New World Order but this seems like something that has been talked about around Bongs and Coffee shops.

1 sole body/entity controlling the banks of a entire country.

We all know the answer here. Obumbler will just blame bush. When will the socialists realize that you can't spend other people's money forever, sooner or later you run out of other people's money and the government will then come for your money.

Please explain how you came to this conclusion?

There is nothing in the article about Germany wanting to conquer Europe.

Where do you think the debt came from? It wasn't military spending, that is for sure. The debt came from all of the socialistic programs they provide their citizenry.

Germany will conquer Europe by owning its debt. Making the other country’s indebted to Germany. Not saying they planned it that way but that’s whats happening.

Socialism is what utterly brought Europe to its knees. Tax the hell out of people and distribute the wealth. People got smart and noticed they did not have to work for a living and started living off the government’s dime. It’s what happened to the USSR and its what’s happening to Europe and its what’s going to happen to America in a few short years if we don’t stop this entitlement spending

You cant tax the rich out of this. even if you took all the "Rich" peoples assets away from them to buy down the debt, it would only last 186 days under 1.3 trillion dollar budget

Eventually, the truth will out!

The last few years have been an engineered collaspe in moral, finance!

It will transpire, we've been brow beaten so low, giving up our liberty's, finances, etc

So the wanna be BIG White Horse the NWO can come riding to our aid and save us all! if we accept then things will get better very quickly!

Personally, I say F#,K EM!!!!!

Who Is Merkel, Sarkosy, Barrosso, Van Rumpoy etc etc! and who actually controls them from the shadows,

Arrest the lot, we don't need Governments!

Do you need a Government to help you make friends with a family from a different country/culture when on holiday! No

So lets turn the pariah's away once and for all and start being human again! I don't need a leader "DO YOU"

Germany can not afford to "own" Europes debt and doesn't even want to... that's nonesense.

Right now the EU wants to merge government bonds of the economically stronger and weaker countries into Eurobonds to bail out the weaker economies, which Germany strongly opposes.

I agree that countries like Greece had unsound, unbalanced budgets and way to high spending... but thats not solely the reason that brought Greece or Europe "to its knees"... nor was it what you call socialism.

I find it hilarious that Germany once again owns Europe. Except this time instead of holding us hostage at the end of a barrel of a gun, It's at the end of a bank statement.

Yeah right, the evil Germans.
Imagine there was a binding referendum in Germany about our EU-membership, which would definitely lead to Germany leaving the EU, because the German citizens are not very enthusiastic about paying for other countries debt.
The so called powerhouse would return to its own currency and leave the Eurozone behind, with all its debt.
Have fun with it, we don't want it. No more fear of evil Germany conquering Europe.
I wonder how long the Eurozone would last...

Why would the laid-back southern Europeans with their warm weather and plentiful local food produce need any Euros?
Probably to buy nice cars from the Germans.

So, at one end of the Euro, we have German manufacturing and a stable economy and at the other end is a belt of debt across the food producing countries - Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece.

I don't hear about any Southern Europeans starving. They have enough tomatoes to throw at each other.
Food Fight Festival

As for the UK, we are probably screwed.

The same pattern repeated all over the world. Debt used as leverage by countries to extort food, oil - whatever.

Maybe not in Europe but the USA spends boatloads on military. But cant reduce that, just cut out food stamps. Hey better still we can invest more into our military to shoot dead all the poor people and then the world will be a nice place to live!

So when the Eurozone breaks up who do you think is still going to be up ontop of the pile...thats right the evil Germans.

This was why the EU was set up in the first place, so that countries like Germany that have just happened to have started two world wars would not be allowed to become a superpower AGAIN!

And this clearly shows that the evil Germans somehow orchestrated the collapse of the Eurozone.
They must have invented a secret Nazi-weapon that made everyone else too stupid to keep their nations economy stable.
The end.

The EU might have been a good idea in the beginning but what it became is a joke and thats not Germany's fault.
Germany doesn't want to become a superpower... the German people learned their lesson from history.

I'm out of this thread.
Fortunately there are enough more serious threads on ATS about the EU-debt-crisis and the real reasons behind it.

Germany has been at the centre of Europe’s mishandling of the Euro crisis from the very start.

Unless your into Mercedes Benz or BMWs I really don't think that anyone outside of Europe prior to November 9th 1989 would have given Germany a second thought, two halves of the same Apple were reunited for the first time since the Berlin Wall was erected.

Did Germany sow the seeds of the eurozone debt crisis?

Who is to blame for starting the current crisis in the eurozone? Greece? Italy? The real answer may lie further north.

Greece has rejected outright German proposals for the EU to hold power over its budget.
