And yes, Aliens can use antennas too....

You're having a joke eh ?
If they really exist they certainly wouldn't need antenna's

IAMTAT - out of curiousity, have you covered up some text on the rear of the photo (bottom right) ?

It's clearly on a wire of some kind.

Here is a photo analysis:

Resized for easy viewing:

It's even clearer on my macbook pro with full res image.

Thank you OP for your hard work, openess, and honest

ETA: opened full size tiff in lightroom, adjusted curves, exported to photoshop to draw line. Line is even clearer on full size tiff, i can email if your interested had to adjust to smaller jpeg to get it uploaded to ats).

Sorry for asking ..but is it possible your father to keep hiding this secret photo from you all this years ?

No....not really. Dad was kind of a pack rat. He kept room-loads of stuff.

How was it kept? Was it just totally random or was there some rough method or was he totally OCD about it all? How many other photos did you find secreted away in the pages of a book?

I'm sorry, but I don't think I said that it was found in a book. I remember pulling it out of a box of old papers, receipts, notes etc. Nothing else involving UFOs. Dad wasn't OCD.

That is a great question. It certainly does look like there is some text on the bottom right side. OP can you explain this for us?

OK, I have to commend you on that find. I have no vested interest in the overall determination of this photo due the fact stated repeatedly, It can never be confirmed, simply supported. But your little find here is intriguing to me. Thanks for that

Fist thing that strikes me about the writing is the use of the word "circa" rather than, "about" or "around" "sometime around". Plus, the person seems to have written it with a certain confidence and spelled Allegheny and Pennsylvania correctly. with the correct upper cases used. Yet, the "P" of photo it's as if the person was going to write "Foto" and then corrected themselves.

Yes,,,There is part of a scribbled phone number and a woman or man's name (Sandy) in my dad's handwriting. Dad often scribbled on the back of old photos, envelopes, etc. I covered it up to protect whomever's number it is/was. even if complete, I assume it would be out of service by now anyway.

Actually, when I put the picture through an emboss filter I see 3 posibilities;

-Lense flare from the metal creating a glint on top of the dome.
-A small antenna on top of the dome.
-Fishing line like another poster stated.

i've seen similar pictures of hoaxed UFO's and the line is generally alot more clear.

I will not saying it's not fishing line but I am playing the devils advocate.

Could you get a good quality scan of this photo? That would be much appreciated.

I disagree. Every single 'Billy boy' photo looks like a small object close to the camera. I'm leaning towards the same conclusion for the photo presented in this thread, but I reserve judgement until we see a better image to work from.

I'm only at page 12 here, but your post points to something everyone might want to consider here; that the most popular camera of that era was the 110, not the 35mm. Nowhere near the quality in the pictures of even the popular 127.

And I think the "guy" in the corner is the OP's thumbprint.

I agree you should definitely research this lead. You could look up all last names in the local phone book for a match or do Internet search for sandy w. You could also do a reverse lookup on the number to see who has it now or who had it and ascertain an address. With that you could pull public records to see who has lived at that address and see if anyone matches the "w" in her last name. This is substantial information and could definitely be used to get the real story on this UFO.

Unfortunately, there's no area code with it...and I can't make out the last digit.
