One thing I've learned over my years here, and I'm still not as good as I want to be at it

Make your thread titles want to draw members in, with ATS' Terms and Conditions in mind of course.....(ATS Terms and Conditions). I've seen a lot of good threads that could be great go splat because the title is bleh or
. Let's all try to get more creative with our thread titles.

And you can't use your Harry Potter wand and cast some spell on your thread.

Edit to add: AND ALL-CAPS IS NOT WHAT I MEAN. THAT IS SERIOUSLY FROWNED UPON HERE!

Peace

I completely agree a title can make a huge difference!

I've found taking a specific side, so people can either join you or be against you, sometimes helps.

I had a VERY popular thread where I used the term "Absolute Proof" in the title - to me it was proof but that's certainly debatable and made a lot of people passionate about saying I was wrong, or right.

ETA:
I also think having a picture in the body of the OP makes a HUGE difference!

she says, "It's a proven fact that a picture is worth a thousand words!"

It seems that over these past few years I've noticed a trend, too.

There is an abundance of threads with sensational titles and bogus material.
Or a bunch of new members just filling the gaps.
Sometimes the same thread is copied and the author never used our "Search" button.
Happens more often than not.

There used to be threads that captivated and thrilled me to no end.
But then 400 pages of arguments that were irrelevant to the OP, lost my interest.

Now I stick to finding threads that peak my interest and follow up on them.
Usually they are authored by the same group of brilliant members.

Some new threads are interesting, but not much lately.

Guess I'll stick to the same ploy.

I thought the rules was you had to post the exact Title which is on an article?

Then if you make up your own title rather than copying a title you are warned for it/

We loose either way.

pretty sure that's only when it's in the Breaking News sections.

All other threads (far as I know) can be whatever you choose

Yes, what Thermo Klein said.... almost. I'm pretty sure it's the "Breaking Alternative News" sub-forum only. If I'm wrong, another mod can straighten me out on this one, I may be mistaken.

I'm not like Data from Star Trek, I can't remember all this stuff off the top of my head.

Peace

Only the news forums require exact headlines.

Breaking Political News
Breaking General News (BTS)
Breaking Alterntative News

Any other forum, you can choose the title you want, so long as it falls within the T&C and isn't a misleading...too much..
