Freaky cloud with shadow.

Spotted this video today.
This is the first time i`ve seen a cloud with a shadow behind it.

It seems to be layered too .
Pretty strange one that i`d thought i`d share.

Having a bit of trouble with the link.

that is kind of cool. I know that you can see shadows of clouds on the ground, from an air plane...

But I am wondering what would be the light source casting a shadow up... into....I guess another cloud?

WOW! I've never seen anything as stunning and I've seen a lot of cloud pics.

I wonder if it's some sort of anticrepuscular-ray effect but not sure how it's done in this instance. I'm sure someone with a bit of science can explain the angles etc..

Could there be something on the ground reflecting a lot of light back up? Maybe a field of solar panels, mirrors, etc. Do we know where this was filmed?

I see what you mean but the Sun is behind the cloud and the shadow seems to be behind the Sun.

I showed it to my friend who attends geograhy / meteorological studies and he said he has never ssn such thing and it is either a fake or some very unusual wheather fenomena. He will show it to someone else, he's not best student around but he considers clouds / storms his speciality. So... anyone has some theory?

I just think the shape of this one is fantastic. It's like a giant leaf, or the way frost goes on a window. No wonder the bloke's all excited. I would be too.

Reminds me of some strange clouds I took pics of last month.
These were snapped in my backyard as a storm front rolled in. I was actually just impressed by how dark the sky got. It wasn't until I looked at the first image I snapped in play back that I saw the cloud formations higher up, so I snapped a few more.

I think that the shadow was caused by the reflection of sunlight from the top surface of a layer of cloud two levels below the cloud on which the shadow was projected.

The guy seems like hes acting to me.

Anyway, the sun looks to be coming from the right of the clouds and the shadow is casting up? Doesn't look like it's cause by the sun. Possibly the wind or whatever from the "bottom" cloud pushing threw the top whispier clouds making it appear to be a shadow.

I dunno really but very cool indeed!

I`m still stumped by it.
I`ll be surprised if someone comes out and proves this is fake. ( maybe it is )
Maybe someone will come up with an explanation for how this occurred.

It's all down to the position of the sun

At times when I am at home there is a blue cloud that will sit near my home. Its funny because when the clouds are around you can see it BEHIND THEM ILLUMINATING as soon as they clear its invisible. When cloud cover comes back its there I made a thread on it when I first noticed it. It doesnt seem to come round till late and its not always there but when it is its pretty cool. When I first seen it it had a white cloud not to far from it that was illuminating behind the cloud cover and --it cut on and off then left for good--. When I say clouds that is the best way I can explain it. But the white one never returned only the blue one. The white one I seen only once the blue one I always see. It doesnt mind photos either I tried with my phone its barley seen in the phone image but it can bee seen. There is so much going on here I LOVE IT earth
