I was just outside (22:07) having a smoke in the garden with the misses
we were both looking at the sky which is patchy with low cloud cover and the odd area of clear sky with some stars visible
i spotted a light coming over from the right (from the west i think) that i initially thought was a satellite but then i noticed it was sometimes under the clouds, then in them
there was no sound at all!
as the light approached directly overhead it seemed to intensify in brightness
the light was so bright i could see 6-8 lines of light beaming outwards like a sparkling diamond would
we both just watched and commented on how bright it was
as it headed away its brightness went to dim to nothing in 4 seconds in a clear patch of sky
it was a direct straight line, no speed adjustments and no altered direction.
i know it sounds like a staellite but i asure you its without doubt the most single brightest light we have witnessed
location: Oldbury, west midlands UK
time: 22:07

i have no pics or footage unfortunatley as our camcorder is hiding somewhere and my mobile is $hi*
just wanted to tell everyone what an amazing spectacle it was

also off to bed now so i will answer any questions tommorow

Believe it or not, the object was above the clouds.

There was an ISS pass between 22:06 and 22:11 that exactly matches. Travelling W to E and extremely bright at mag -3.6. That's bright enough to show through clouds.

edit: ninja'd by Phage again!

I saw it last night as well.
Most definitely a satellite.
Very bright one low orbit and moves into the Earth's shadow very quickly.

if its flying pretty fast in a straight line with constant brightness (somtimes u get a flare), its most likely a satellite.

Use Stellerium program, ISStracker web page etc..

Hey, I am in Reading and me and 3 friends see this object shoot up and fly in the opposite direction, extremely bright and no noise. and all of a sudden gone. Unfortunately this has led to me and my friend s arguing.
