yeah, really gets a bit annoying. But this is some really cool information, and I am stoked to be able to watch it live.

Let the race begin.

Now, what you need to find is....a gigantic surface find of a worthwhile commodity.

Tic-Toc.

HiRISE monitoring and has found in the suthern mid latitude, "flows"

7 confirmed sites of flowing water

Yes indeed.

I believe in the Ancient Alien Theory and that the 'gods' possibly started human life on Mars.

Something happened on Mars, some sort of catastrophy; then we migrated to Earth.

i was just reading the new edition of Filer's Files....apparently there seems to be some kind of smoke, or vapors...that are coming from below the surface....dead planet? doesn't seem to be anymore

I'm looking forward to what Lisa Pratt has to say. So far:

Flowing Water
Briny
Seasonal

The initial comments from the NASA speaker said, "Where there's water there is life."

I am a firm believer in that life can exist in places that are NOT similar to Earth, and that all planets containing life do NOT have to contain water....

I think that this discovery of flowing water and active seasons on Mars is more to think about possible colonization.

Does anyone here remember the thread about NASA recruiting for people to take the 1-way trip to begin colonization of Mars in a few years?

Not previously discovered "gullys"

new flows in channels

usually water is in the higher latitudes (Canda/Earth)

these are evidences in the equator area

salt deposits and flows correlate

comparing to permafrost on earth

cryopegs: salty water although liquid in subzero due to brine

SEASONS ON MARS! POSSIBLE FLOWING WATER!

via Lisa Pratt.. "environment might allow for an active biological process"

Wow this is fascinating stuff! These images are truly stunning....it sounds like an entire ecosystem may exist that we have been completely ignorant of before:

Will this rally humans to explore Mars?

Isn't it, though? I have goosebumps watching that. Think about all of the potential that such a discovery has. Of course, you would have to look beyond our current financial circumstances to think about it, but the potential for exploration is HUGE!

Bah, "Curiosity has not been sufficiently sterilised to prevent contamination to liquid water of Earth life."

Hey NASA, here's a crazy thought, you know, just throwing it out there. Delay the launch of Curiosity, unpack that bad boy and freakin' well sterilise it! Then go find the water.

She said the "L" word!!!

Is it possible that the "darkening" is an actual artifact of LIFE?

I'm thinking the same thing Paratus. If there is life in that brine soup then it would be very basic, seasonal and of course prone to biological breakdown. What they haven't said is if they can detect any methane coming from those dark patches.
