Quake
USGS QUAKE MAP
quakes.globalincidentmap

Just want to keep ATS informed but this is strange that it is not on the maps but on the news here.
If it was not a Quake what else could it be??
Just wanted to get this on here.

isn't Korumburra a coal mining region? is it possible the earthquake was actually a collapsing mine or something of that ilk?

Do you realize how powerful a collapsing mine causing a 4.4 would actually be?

The atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima was a 3.8, I believe, for comparison.

Yup... I just checked the Geoscience Australia website which was mentioned in the article and they are showing a quake in Victoria.

I think the problem might be that the USGS map looks like it hasn't refreshed in over 40 mins.. maybe it'll show up on the next refresh?

Sounds like it was felt from Dandenong all the way to Moe; Traralgon got nothing although it's being reported everywhere.

This is not strange at all, as the answer can be found on USGS's own website.

Starting in January 2009, the USGS National Earthquake Information Center no longer locates earthquakes smaller than magnitude 4.5 outside the United States, unless we receive specific information that the earthquake was felt or caused damage.
USGS

The quake near Korumburra was only a 4.4, so probably will not be located by USGS.
