So if electronic components continue getting smaller and more efficient, realistically we could see consumption decrease to the picowatt or nanowatt range and then piezoelectric chargers could easily provide enough power to charge your batteries.


I can see your point, but it is the back light that first made me doubt. The average rate of key strokes VS the amount of time the display is on. Each key stroke would be a fraction of what the display needs. Since the display is always on, there is no hope.

I'll admit, powering a laptop seems pretty far-fetched (using current technology). But charging up an iPod while jogging, using piezo transducers in your shoes, that seems possible.
