While the nation continues suffering through a financial crisis, federal lawmakers from both political parties remain incredibly generous with tax dollars, doling out millions in bonuses to members of their staff including those with six-figure salaries. Considering that unemployment is at an all-time high and the federal budget is in desperate need of slashing, this is the last thing Americans need to hear. The bonuses, distributed my members of Congress, ranged from $2,000 to about $5,000 and totaled more than $21 million. The money was distributed shortly after the federal government finished the year with a $1.3-trillion budget deficit. The data, which can be viewed here, was compiled by a Washington D.C. nonprofit dedicated to tracking congressional salaries.

They even get insider information for trades from Wall Street. What a bunch of criminal. Time to stop complying with the system and start non-complying because the system is rigged. We can't rely on this so called fake government who really are just representatives and servants of the people to do what is best for the people anymore. We must take responsibility because our representatives is serving interest group that do not have our interest at heart.

Our government is just plain criminal. There is no rational explaination for this.

But remember.

It's those goddamned teachers' unions that are killing the country!

Oh joy! I'm glad my hard earned money is being put to good use, its not like we couldn't use the money for education, further space exploration, cures for diseases, or more jobs. smh, I think people should look into the fall of the Roman Empire. Like it or not, the United States is the new Roman Empire.

History Lesson
You'll find some similarities (:

Wait, do you mean Congressional Staff as in the people who work in the congressional offices; the Ombudsman and such?

Haha, boy are you in for a surprise. Look up how much they make annually, then you'll probably blush, grin, and say "That's criminal!"

Teachers' unions are not killing the country, it's defense spending & war, and the banks that are killing this country.

Average Salaries The average salary for a congressional chief of staff is $120,051.55, according to the Open House Project website. The average salary for district directors is $84,346.63. Deputy chiefs of staff make $84,121.66, with legislative directors earning an average of $72,137.79 and deputy district directors making $61,389.93 on average. Congressional communications directors earn $58,359.05 on average, and press secretaries make an average salary of $50,524.05. The salary for a congressional aide is $39,906.24 and for a staff assistant, it is $29,890.54.

Perhaps it wouldn’t seem so modest if the money came out of the legislators’ pockets. Not surprisingly, no one cared to comment on the bonuses that went to congressional staffers who make six-figure salaries.

Can you read, I said they were criminal for insider trading. It's not that I'm against giving bonuses to staff who earn less than a certain amount of salary but I'm just against congress not paying it out of their own pockets when they can and to whom it is appropriate.

Would you say the same thing of the fire fighters' unions and police unions. Please, do you even know what unions did in the past to bring a more just environment to the working class to end exploitation of labor by corporations. Teachers don't contribute to dumbing down students. It's the culture and inequality in our society that dumbs down students. Teachers are middle class people who build society not tear it down, do you want society to be tear down or build up. It's jobs that have been outsourced that is crippling local government revenue tax base. Stop blaming teachers.
