I think you misunderstood me. Or atleast the point I was trying to make.

I was simply saying that from a Government's point of view, wouldn't Militias be a bad idea in terms of population control? As conscripted or volunteer soldiers they would be less inclined to follow orders that went against their moral foundation than regular soldiers.

My post had very little to do with pride or patriotism. I myself applied for an ROTC scholarship and had I not gotten accepted into college was planning on enlisting.

I was just trying to point out a flaw with the idea of a Militia being used to restrain the populous. At least in my opinion. That's all.
