WAR: Energy Weapons for the Military Soon?

Directed-energy weapons (DEW), and Active denial system (ADS), are getting closer to becoming a real added asset to the military. DEW's would be able to paralyze the enemy without killing them, and have the added capability to fry electrical circuitry rendering some types of weapons useless. ADS is being worked on by Raytheon and would implement microwave technology to make the water in an enemies skin heat up causing great pain. While still in the testing stage, one of the hurdles is how to be able to use such weapons under current rules of war. (img: CNN)



This, just a few years ago was only seen in sci-fi thrillers and alien movies, now we are on the threshold of seeing these technologies bring warfare to a new level.
