I did read the post.

However, I missed the point that this was supposed to be tongue in cheek.

Have a great day.

Prohibition didn't work the first time around. What makes you think it will work again?

If the consumption of alcohol is something that you find detestable, then the answer is quite simple. Don't drink it.

Yes, with extreme prejudice.
Not even as an antiseptic, or a car fuel. There are other types of alcohol.
Check everyone's kitchen for Vanilla and other flavor extracts. Put them in jail.
(not the extracts, the people)
Create a task force, an Army if you will. In charge is a Czar, or is it Tsar?
Nevertheless. It should be taken off the streets, and no olive should spend it's last moments floating around in a Martini.
Remember kids, ,JUST LOL, when offered ALCOHOL...

This thread is hilarious! Even from the title I kinda garnered what you would be going for OP. Not just a comment on society but the posting culture of ATS as well.

That seems to be the approach to other recreational flowers.

I will fight for your right to use the substance you choose.

Can I count on you to fight for my rights ?

Just pointing out the ridiculous hypocrisy.

It's funny.

America was founded on a narcotic cash crop. Yep, that's right, tobacco.

We tried Prohibition once...didn't go over so well. The genie is out of the bottle, so to speak, on both alcohol and cigarettes. There's no putting it back in.

Worse yet, there's a more harmless drug that IS illegal, and yet we're losing billions each year in potential tax revenue by keeping it illegal (marijuana). Even though unlike those other two, it has medicinal benefits for chronic pain patients.

I am fighting through legal, and medical channels.
My state has opened the channels, but hasn't really dialed them in properly.
I know people who could benefit. I am married to one.
We're doing our best.

My state has legalized "Medical Cannabis".

I use it for chronic pain.

I have a card and follow all the rules.

It truly is a remarkable flower that we are just starting to understand.

I would prefer we use the term "Flowers" on this thread.

Cannabis threads don't seem to last very long around here...(I get It).

But come on ATS, If we are not free thinkers who will be.

Please let go of your preconceived notions...

Banning something won't make it go away.
As seen by the drug wars.

Part of the reason being is that some people enjoy defying the law. Then people pressure others into doing so as well. I understand your intentions are good, but it will not work.

Well, flowers are not the subject.
The topic here is banning alcohol..
We should probably stay on topic.

I agree with you...The subject is "Banning Alcohol".

As long as my point is being made.

The two issues must be logically thought out.

I am trying to make a couple of points.

While also respecting ATS's rules....

Help you ban it?! No thanks, I would rather let people make their own decisions, good or bad, and suffer whatever consequences are brought on by their actions. Besides, progressives, or more specifically, Woodrow Wilson already tried this. The Government makes too much money off of taxes from the sell of alcohol, so it will never happen anyway.

Yes, I do realize that there are innocent victims of the people that abuse or use alcohol, as well as other drugs irresponsibly, but that still isn't grounds for usurping freedom, liberty and the RIGHT to make your own decisions.

I'ts only three pages long.

I admit I do the same thing.

Could you please go back and read the thread.

It has many well thought out and coherent replies.

Thanks for not supporting me anyway...

While we ban alcohol we should also ban hand shaking, because 76,000 die from the flu a year. Keep banning things and we won't be able do anything, but twiddle our fingers

What, this sounds crazy ?

Hitting a little too close to home ?

You don't like it when they want to ban your recreational drug of choice ?

Next we will "BAN" flowers...Too late, we already did.

Alcohol seems to be keeping me alive. I'd definitely be dead without it. I've got some aliens/MIB whatever they are chasing me around.. but that's not the part where I need the alcohol. Chasing someone around doesn't do anything, but the problem is that they have some kind of "psychic" or something that somehow remotely controls my head. Imagine something with full control over your head that can ramble on and on while it tortures your body parts. Nope, no radio waves or anything involved here, since it's still there regardless of whether you're in a subway station or on the top floor of a high rise. I don't have a clue how "they" are able to do it. And that's been going on since 2005. In 2007, it started doing this "snore" sound from the throat and nose (it switches between the two) where I couldn't get to sleep, since it would just pull me back up. I couldn't even sleep on the bus ride home from work, as with my head against the window, it would just take my head and bash it into the window. When the aliens are on you, there's simply no way out and the only way to try to wait it out was to try the liquor.
It has full control over my head, so it's really impossible for the liquor to do anything... but luckily once I get enough liquor in me I can get to sleep. Liquor (wine, beer, hard, whatever works) has been a daily thing since 2007 for me. Without it, I don't know what I would do. I'm actually about to go grab some more right about now, as the daily torture is impossible to handle, and there's no one that could possibly help... ah, unless I want to end up in a mental facility with no way out. Being trapped in a mental facility with the REAL government after you (yeah, not the one you see on tv) that can just do anything it wants and is immune to any laws, you could just imagine how that would go...
