Would you kill your child and offer him up to God if he Told You.

We know although later God provided a ram, God commanded Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on a pyre to prove his obedience.

If God told you today to sacrifice your child, would you do it?

God asks Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on a mountain. Abraham prepares to kill his son, gets to the top of the mountain, pulls out his knife, and is stopped by an angel.

God didn't let him do it... keep that in mind..

Yep. God liked to play the sadistic mind games that would send most people into the arms of insanity. Keep that in mind.

If God told me to kill my child, I wouldn't because I don't believe God would ask that.

This is a loaded question.

God of the Bible isn't God.

No, human sacrifices are no longer necessary.
Jesus Christ came and sacrificed himself for
all mankind. The ultimate price has already
been paid with God's son through grace
and salvation. Sacrifices unto God are no
longer needed. If you read the Bible you
would know this already.

Sounds more like a bait thread to me.

if god told me anything i'd be like "WOW YOU DO EXIST...AND THIS IS THE FIRST THING YOU ASK OF ME?"

"HAIL SATAN!"

LOL.

then i'd proceeed to tell god that satan never asked me to kill my son.

but that'll never happen cause god doesn't exist and i'll never have kids!

Or... Abraham was mentally disturbed and heard "voices" telling him to kill his son. He went to perform the act and was stopped by a good samaritan.

To answer the OP, absolutely not. Nothing is more important than my child.

It seems Lord Enlil was testing his fate. And to answer I would ask the to strike me since I cannot perform the deed asked of me..............

Considering all the different people who have committed horrible acts claiming "god told them to do it", have either ended up in prison, mental ward, or dead......probably not. If I heard voices in my head I would go talk to a psychologist.

And if you think god is telling you to kill your child, stop what you are doing and get help now.

Hell with that.

Chances are that any intelligent being would mostly assume that was not the voice of God. Also, understanding the word and meaning of 'sacrafice' is heavily dependent on one's perception of life and creation.

Not to play devils advocate.. pun intended.. God let him go through with it.. The angel stopped him.

But in response to the OP.. I don't have children but with no doubt in my mind I would NOT!

Tough call, friend.

Like potaco and itsatrap mention, the big question is how to reason out exactly who or what you're actually hearing. If there were some way to know it's actually god, then my brain says yes - 'Hath not the potter power over the clay?' as well as knowing that we all die anyway - but my heart of course gives a big fat no for the ones I love.

I'm somewhat caught up in the same catch-22 regarding christians and non-retaliation/non-violence. Yahshua ('Jesus') taught in Luke "Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me".
