Would we all get along better if we posted our actual pictures as avatars?

Or would we not accept someones ideas or thoughts because of their looks? Its an interesting thought....Can we still deny ignorance while having our actual pictures up? Would the sex of an ATS user change your thoughts or opinions about their point of view or thread? Please speak up young grasshoppers, im interested in your replies!

**If anyone would like to use their own pic for their avatar, let me know and i'll break the ice and do it first!

I have an idea.

Let's do an experiment using your picture of you as you look today.

We can then add comments and get this theory solved the ATS way.

I think that people would let their natural biases play in their interpretation of posters' words. Avatars are good for this reason, IMO.

Make sure to supply a good picture of your face that can be picked up by facial recognition technology so you no longer remain "anonymous." Dont forget to put your street address in your "location" as well.

I have nothing to worry about, no warrants and i'm very open with my views. I think the governments around the world knew who most of us were without needing ATS.

All other concerns aside, the ability to relate to each other, might be increased if everyone had a picture up. Not that I'm suggesting we do, just considering the psychological effects it may bring to the table. It would certainly remind us all that we are interacting with our fellow man and though we are reading words on a screen, they do come from real people... *Most of the time, that is!

Classic. Maybe this thread will lead to a dating forum here at ATS and you can work your magic!

Anonymity and conspiracy go hand-in-hand. Making people use real photos of themselves severely takes away from this.

And anyways... it's the concepts and proof that matter, not the people behind them.

It is interesting some of the responses you get when people don't know the posters sex, dare I say this but a response from a male to a male can be more 'agressive' then a male to a female (imo and from my experience)

I am female - and notice a different response in forums if people know you are female

I really think it would help put a face to the poster.
It may help cut down on the utter rudeness that runs rampant here.

I considered that for about 2 seconds then realized my ex is a member. I wouldn't want to see anyone go through that.

just take a pic with a note card with your screen name written with sharpie. or just write ATS PIC on notecard.
I don't mind to post a pic in my album but I like the avatar I have now.
