Witness location : Tomakomai (Japan) (468 km NW from epicenter)

It felt like I was feeling my heart pounding very strong, so I sat on the bed and noticed this sliding motion. I first had thought I was getting dizzy thus the motion I was feeling, then my wife came in and asked if I had felt the earthquake. Eerie!

www.emsc-csem.org...

I heard about this on the car radio an hour ago, they said Tokyo had wobbling in some high rises, the MM doesn't stack up though, highest was MM2 for Tokyo according to USGS.

Pretty strong quake though, Max. PGV (Peak Ground Velocity) was 150cm/sec at the epicenter

so what do the locals say

Japan has some of the world's best building regs regarding quake-proofing, and their quake tables are some of the world's best developed. They are used to 7.0's - it's not unusual for the area. Just last December they had a 7.4.

Injection wells can causes earthquakes. As proven recently in Arkansas.

Now the gas companies want to frack on Yellowstone's doorstep.

Found more links if you want them, one beeing a Site with alot of Seismos for Middle-Germany,which is the most interesting for me.

The more i search, the more Seismos i find...i´m really suprised how many we have in Germany considering that there isn´t much activity here at all. Maybe it has to do with the Mining in the Past?

Edit: Forgot to add, could you look at the "HWTS" one please, whats up with this one? Too sensitive?

Hi Shenon, yes that is the 7.2 off Honshu going through so since the other recorders (2 I looked at) are not black then it may be a bit on the sensitive side.

Nice site that. Thanks again. Adding it to the seismo links now.

I'm pretty new to keeping track of Flares and CME's so was surprised to read this on Spaceweather
"After four years without any X-flares, the sun has produced two of the powerful blasts in less than one month: Feb. 15th and March 9th."

So X class are pretty rare then

Well that discounts any connection with earthquakes here on Earth then, because there have been heaps of quakes above Mag 7 in the last 4 years
