BRITAIN'S Prince Charles has cited the Mumbai shantytown setting for the film "Slumdog Millionaire'' as a role model for sustainable living in Western cities, a report said Saturday.

So, according to Charlie, everyone needs to ditch their running water and sanitation and instead live in an overcrowded one room shanty made of trash with open sewers running down the street. Yep ... that's a great model for Western Life alright.
Wonder if he'll be giving up his plush estates to embrace the freedom and eco-friendly ways of the slums? Can we look for him to open his estates up, turn off the plumbing, and fill them with poor, unwashed, sick people? Wonder what old Camellia would think of that! Give up the palace she worked so hard (on her back) to get ... for a slum?? I'm thinking ... NOT!

I understand the 'live simply' thing and that the West wastes resources. But this is BEYOND telling people to live simpy and not to waste things. It's simply absurd. If he wants to help he should be bringing poor UP to better conditions instead of dumbing everyone else down to meet theirs. There is a happy middle ground ... less waste in the well off parts of the west and better conditions in the slums and other poor parts of the world.

Lemme' see ... Do I want to live in Delaware or in an Indian style slum?
hmmm .. the choice is soooo hard to make!

Maybe Prince Charles can become our example then and rid himself of all that horrible wealth.

Just trash from an out of touch old dude.

With each profound thought that comes out of that Buffoon's mouth I realize more and more how the Elites are exposing themselves for what they really are.

I am not surprised by this ultimate Monkey!

He's just jealous of their freedoms.

I know, I know, the verbooten one-liner. I tried to add more but the line is just too perfect and complete. In my mind at least. I didn't want to dilute it.

Upward mobility and freedom are the greatest threat to the ruling elite of the world.

A broken and impoverished America, a victim of failed socialist agendas, capitalist greed and bitter political divisions will ultimately send millions more Americans into the slums where they belong.

God save the Queen's son!

Prince Charles and the rest of those that have a guaranteed standard of living just for the privilege of being born should keep quiet.

It seems it is time for those in the upper echelons to let the rest of the people lower down know just how lucky they are to be alive in these tough times.

Do you want to live in an Indian style slum in Delaware?

Indian style slums, coming to an area near you soon, brought to you by your Government and the real powers that be.

There is NO reason any human being should live without proper water, toilet and medical attention. (even if it is within' the village and doled out by the local shaman)

The particular example chosen by "Charlie" is of people living in an existing city in squalor...If his initial thought was that those that are self sustainable have a tighter sense of community and a clearer concept of working together for the good of the whole...why didn't he choose a mountain village in Thailand, or a Native village in South America where EVERYTHING is done with self sustainability in mind.

Just goes to show that the elite apparently believe that to be self sustainable one must live in squalor and poverty...nothing could be further from the truth!

Starting to think that I'm a thread killer....seems everything my name appears on "dies" VERY soon after I post to it. To whoever starred my reply, I thank you very much. At least someone looked after I posted.

The possibilities of this thread are just as interesting for discussion as any other thread that is posted here. Read past the titles, people, you may be quite mentally and intellectually stimulated.

the way things are going in Britain at the moment, Charles might see his dreams come true.

oh well, as long as we keep paying for the Civil List, he'll be happy.

When he is king of England is he going to sell everything he has and go live in a one room shanty without running water or electricity? Wonder how Camelillia (or whatever her name is) will think of that. Seriously .. is this guy going to be king or will he get passed over for William? Camelilla won't like that! Gotta' wonder ...

To say that this man is a little out of touch with the hoi polloi , is quite the understatement .

Well at least he is keeping up that regal tradition of putting ....

Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip

1998 – “You managed not to get eaten, then?” – to a student who had been trekking in Papua New Guinea.

1993 – When speaking to a Briton in Budapest, Hungary, he said: “You can’t have been here that long – you haven’t got a pot belly.”

1995 – He asked a Scottish driving instructor how he “kept the natives off the booze” long enough to get a licence.

Maybe old Charlie boy has not spent enough time looking around his kingdom here in the UK
We have lots of slums, and desolate no go areas of our own, which would greatly please him and serve as model for his utopian vision
Well if he dont make it the throne as King the court jesters post is still open

Dont forget his fathers quote - If I were to be re incarnated, I would like to come back as a virus to kill most of humanity

reminds me of when prince william slept on the street for a night www.popcrunch.com...
of course he probably wouldnt be able to do it a week or for months like some of us have had to do but whatever. I think that this is an example of someone saying try to be LIKE them not try to be them. Those people reuse all of their stuff that is a very admirable quality just because they dont have money for sanitation doesnt mean that we dont and cant have that NOT be a part of our society but seriously if you've ever bummed it you know how much excess our world is privy too. Dumpster diving for good food is easy and theres so much good stuff thrown out every day. In Madison where i live we have something called Hippie Christmas its early august when everyones moving and there is just so much good stuff on the side of the road you can pretty much redo your entire house. Its about learning to be frugal and not be wasteful its actually a pretty beautiful thing that just not alot of people are aware of or courageous enough to do because we've been trained to do otherwise.

Great thread. Of course this is what he would promote. They should do it. I can think of a way for the bankers and bloodlines to do this too. We network and form local councils, and replace all the needed goods and services. We sign round table and do it moneyless or create new currency just for us. We create a small portion of the more turnkey businesses to pay everyones property taxes, and necessities, and only pay tiny taxes if at all from this small pittance. Thats the economy they have with their dollars.

Our alternative ones would rock as we would only buy from each other. They can take a hike! I've been thinking this out for some time.
