The answer is a resounding NO. If theyre gonna prey on a child, theyre gonna do it, brand or not.
People say molesters cannot be cured, I say thats incorrect, ANY behavior or thought process can be changed thru training or reenforcement.
With the advances in microsurgery and research into how the brain works, one day, maybe we can find whats wrong with a child predators brain and correct it. Until then, I say we police our children better, watch what they do, whom theyre doing it with and the people theyre around, be it relatives, siblings, teachers, clergy, etc. instead of p[utting them in front of the TV, xbox or computer and not bothering with them.

I'm not defending anyone that would abuse a child, but god your mind set reminds me of a medieval dungeon master, someone who would delight in putting someone on the rack or wheel.

The people you are describing? The ones who molest (or do more to) children? They're called Child Molesters, and less than 1% of them are actual pedophiles. The rest are just sad little people who couldn't get any from adults.

In case anyone's wondering, here's what a real "pedophile" is like.
They are both physically and ROMANTICALLY interested in children. Children meaning pre-pubescent. Under 10 usually. Those who "molest" teenagers are certainly not pedophile, they are simply desperate. I personally think the terminology should be change: Molest a child, sexually assault a teenager.
They spend their days agonizing internally about their feelings, because they are fully aware that they cannot have a physical relationship with a child. Given a situation in which they will never ever get caught, they still will hold themselves back, because they know that intercourse can physically damage a small child. Most of them do not believe an emotionally intimate relationship is emotionally damaging to a child. There is no way to disprove them, because all research is with forced, non-consensual relationships, or ones by family members who coerced the child. There is also no way to prove it to be correct, as laws wouldn't allow it.
They almost never resort to following their urges. They often date young (legal aged) physically immature looking women to satisfy their cravings. Those with a small physical frame, including small breasts, those who have a young looking face, those who are very short.
Many do not even own underaged pornography, because they do not know if it was consensual or not, and they are just as worried about child endangerment and children's welfare as the rest of the population.

In some cases, pedophile-like feelings regarding minors is caused by an early discovery of sexuality. They develop urges towards their peers at a young age, and those urges remain until adulthood. This is not always the way it happens, nor does an early discovery of sexuality mean that the person will become a pedophile. It is just one possible explanation.

To put things more simply, people are misunderstood about the meaning of the word. It means those who want to pursue a relationship with children, not just those who want to rape or molest them. These are not things that adults who LOVE children would do, just as it is not an action that a man who loves his girlfriend will do. People need to learn to think of it more in the way that it actually is, rather than the way fear-mongers say it is. Gay men don't just want to have sex with other men. They want to cultivate a loving relationship with another man. This is the way that a true, diagnosed pedophile feels.

So if there were a way to legitimately discover and "brand all the pedophiles" you would be hurting lots of innocent people. People who have never (and will never) harm a child. You cannot claim that they will eventually be a danger, because again a ridiculously small percentage of child molesters are actual pedophiles. Child molestation and pedophilia are not new concepts, they have been around for decades, and those who were pedophiles in the 1950s have almost all kept themselves from acting out on those urges. The current generation will most likely be able to do the same.

Pedophiles are not the problem here, because such a small amount of them end up having and sexual relationship with a child. The problem is the other 99% of molesters. The problem is in those people who couldn't care less for the well-being of the child and take what they want regardless. And those are not the people who, by name, are lovers of children.


And if you really wanted to do something to stop the sexual abuse of children, it wouldn't be those convicted that make up the largest population of abuse. The largest percentage of those who have been abused were abused by family members whom they never reported. It would be education to families to notice the warning signs. It would be special classes encouraging very young students to speak to someone at the school if they are being molested. But people oppose young sexual education, and people oppose making new families take classes even if they will protect children. Regardless, it is the only thing that would truly cut down on the sexual abuse of children.

Being a bad person is not genetic.
Their numbers are not increasing, the reports are increasing. If they are increasing, it is at a consistent rate with the population growth.
Your opinion that they "cannot be cured" is not a medical one, and is therefore invalid when discussing an implementation of a new law. They do function in a normal society.

If you are a parent, you should be aware that more incidents of sexual abuse happen by close relative or family friend than by stranger. This fact has not changed. The number of children who get attacked and molested by a stranger every year is minuscule. The number of children who get repeatedly molested and sexually abused by someone they already know is enormous. Strangers are not the danger. Teachers in charge of your students, others who work in places your children go to, they are not the danger. Statistically speaking, you either are the danger or are married to it. Or it is a brother of you or your partner. Or the father of you or your partner. Or a close friend of you or your partner.
Your child has the same chance of being molested by a stranger as they have of being struck by lightning. The people who do this are bad, but they are not truly a danger to society. They are a danger to a couple hundred or less children a year.
The real dangers? They never get convicted. They will never get the branding proposed here. They will continue to abuse and either the child will be too afraid to tell anyone, or if they are young they will often not know that it is wrong and they have to tell someone. Or the child will (as many cases go) tell their mother. Their mother will then refuse to accept that it is happening, call the child a liar, and go back to their everyday business. Worst case? The mother cuts whoever the danger is out of their life forever. It does not get reported to authorities. They do not get punished.
They are the danger. Not people who run over and fondle a child and then run away. The ones who sneak into their room late at night, whisper that they love them, and proceed to do something nobody who loves a child would do to them.

I vote kill them so they can't reproduce.

Have you ever been associated with a child who has been a victim? Have you seen first hand what happens to them for the rest of their lives? I do not care for the judicial system because it does not help. I do not care for religious organizations who preach forgiveness and counseling. I see the hurt and I see the pain and I see the monsters who are real and who keep on doing the hurt. I do not want to be preached to about how we as a society should handle these monsters. If you had a child hurt, believe me, you would not take the stance that you now have. Wise up, learn. Political correctness can kill and cripple. I am well aware how the percentages show that it is usually family members who do the damage. They should not add to the gene pool (if you can catch my drift!!!)

I have and do know victims. They have all been hurt by family members. None of the people that hurt them have been convicted of any illegal activity.
Why, has your child been molested by a stranger? Odd, because there are usually less than 100 cases of those a year in the US.


And you don't know me, but I can assure you that every time I read something, I am completely in the position of the person who has been hurt. I know the pain of sexual abuse, because I have the superpower of empathy. I also, however, live by facts.
The FACT is that child molesters that get caught are generally of the Stranger variety. Either that, or the Teacher/other position of non-related authority, but those are very rare in the case of actual children, generally it is teens who consented.
The FACT is that most victims were victimized by a family member.
The FACT is that those victimizers are almost never put on trial for their crimes.

And therefore the FACT is that killing child molesters will not stop child molestation, or even put a significant dent in it.

Another FACT? Child Molesters are not pedophiles. It has been proven by psychological examination of offenders that about 1% or less of child molesters are pedophiles. So no. Branding all the pedophiles will not stop child molestation. It will create many deaths of many completely innocent people.
If you can tell me that you do not know a single "normal" person who has fantasized about someone they shouldn't have, then you will be a liar.

There aren't pedophilia activists. Medical professionals have given child molesters psychological screening and it showed that an enormous majority of them were not pedophiles by definition. They were attracted to adults and not children.

By definition, they are. There is a bell curve in adults who are attracted to adults as well. Some just want sex, but most want a legitimate relationship.

Pedophiles do not have victims. Look into it. Tests have conclusively shown that Child Molesters (at least the ones who are have been convicted of it) are not pedophiles. They are not exclusively, or even partly, attracted to children. They are attracted to victimization, and it is easier to victimize a child than an adult.

No it doesn't. It says do not persecute against pedophiles when what you're against is molestation, because pedophiles are not the main proponent in molestation. It says judge those who act on their urges, not those who simply have them. I have thought about killing people in times of anger, does that mean I should be given the death sentence for fear that I might murder someone? No. People have urges, and most people resist them. Pedophiles are not the exception.

I was mistaken. The percentage of Child Molesters who fit the diagnosis of Pedophilia is usually 7-8% depending on who you ask. The less than 1% is the amount of Pedophiles who become Child Molesters.


I am neither Pro nor Anti Pedophilia, because it is a sexual preference. I personally do not care what another person's sexual preference is. What I care about is whether their actions are consensual, and legally people under a certain age cannot consent, depending on the area. More than half of the US sets that age at 16 years, some states have it at 17 and some at 18. Canada's age of consent for vaginal and oral intercourse is 16, and anal is 18. However, Canada's vaginal and oral age of consent was 14 years old until 2008.

Advocating prosecution of pedophiles is advocating thought-police. Advocating prosecution of child molesters is advocating law.

Have you ever known a person who is legally defined as a pedophile? Not knowingly, obviously, as you call them sociopaths and psychopaths. But you could. These people keep their urges to themselves out of fear of prosecution or judgment. Very few who have pedophilic urges seek counseling for it, out of fear that they will somehow be in legal trouble for their thoughts. Their thoughts, however, are not illegal. And that is the difference between pedophiles and molesters. Pedophiles have urges, and molesters have actions. You cannot jail someone for urges, and if you could, I would leave whatever country instated those rules and never look back.

It's not a notion, it's an observable fact. You are the one living in an alternate reality where people have no control over their urges.
Saying that pedophiles will all (or most) act on their urge to have sexual relations with children is equivalent to saying that any man who fantasizes about women is likely to rape one. They are not intrinsically different than other people, they just have a different desire.

They KNOW that consent is not truly possible from young children, and so they do not act upon it, just as most men will not forcibly take sex from a woman, even if placed in a dark soundproof room with one.
