However I am without doubt in thinking that many Muslims around the world think the following:

The westernization of the world is upon us!

Western armies continue to invade our countries, influence our politics, and impose their ideas of what is right and wrong upon our people. Take heed and prepare to fight to keep our heritage and our independence!

I don't know about anybody else... but it seems a little hypocritical to think that "Islamization" is a real threat. From my experience living in Canada, Muslims seem to become westernized rather than trying to impose sharia law... especially the younger generation. Not only that, but Canada is a multi-cultural country; we encourage immigrants to practice their culture rather then force them to change and adapt.

If Islamic led armies where bombing our cities, killing our neighbors and families, then maybe I would feel threatened.

And even assuming that once enough Muslim immigrants have enough critical mass to initiate political change, they will, is directly assuming that Muslims are a united people. If you look into Islamic history, you will find that Muslims are no more united in politics and political beliefs than Christians/westerners are- in fact more so in some cases.

Some people always need something to fear.

As for France, that article was just awful. The only thing Bardot was ever known for was having an 18 inch corseted waist and starring in some movies when she was young. Considering the burka ban was passed, I doubt it's the Muslims taking over.

I find it funny when people suggest the construction of the "Ground Zero Mosque" will promote home grown terrorism and be a threat to the American way of life. I think Muslims are not the ones we should be concerned with, but more with radical lone-wolf Americans who are a threat to this countrys very existence. Do you see a pattern? They are all Americans who commited some of the worst terrorist acts in this counrty. I know exactly one couple down here who are Muslim. They are very good neighbors.

I know hundreds and hundreds of "Christians," however, some of whom are not worthy of the name, who might want to form a mob, burn their house down, and generally run them out of the country. Like what we did to Mormons, Catholics, Jews, Irish etc. at other times in American history.

As far as the mosque in New York goes, if the Church of the Purple Martian wants to build a temple there it is no skin off my nose.

Nobody is saying the Muslims cannot practice their religion. Hell, there are already over 100 mosques in New York alone. Please show me where in the Constitution is states that you can build anything, anywhere you want. The Constitution deals with practicing your religion, NOT building anything you want anywhere.

Using Obama's logic that they should be allowed to build it because it is private property, then I am sure you have no problem if I want to open a porno shop, gun shop or liquor store next to a school right? I'm sure New York would have no problem with this right?

So when practicing your religion is based on having mosque in X location but is not allowed for "relative" reason or "ignorant" reasons then you are still limiting the ability of that religion to express itself as MANY other religions are allowed to without confrontation. So yes in a way that is infringing on the right of that religion to express itself. If it were against the law somehow then there might be justification but to not allow them based on relative/objective views and opinions then there is absolutely no justification.

The most level headed response I heard about this issue was from my father. (who works for internal affairs at the local PD) He said ya know, I don't like it, I don't agree with it, and it makes me a bit upset, but thats about as far as I am going to take it. They have every right to build that mosque there thanks to me (desert storm vet). And ya know as an officer if I saw someone vandalizing it I would arrest there ass because that's the LAW. It still doesn't sit well with me though that they want to build one there.

See as I've repeated over and over in threads like these that some people forget that the constitution trumps everything. It trumps your god, it trumps your belief system, and it trumps your personal opinion, and because it trumps all those things EVERYONE is allowed to HAVE those things....

The moment it stops trumping all of those areas, the moment people start losing freedoms, and then it truly will be a worthless piece of paper.

Is there a pattern here? Theo van Gogh is murdered in the Netherlands for ‘insulting’ Islam; the Organization of the Islamic Conference demands ‘anti-blasphemy’ laws through the United Nations; France is set afire regularly by ‘youths’ (read Muslims); the rise of (dis-) honor killings…holocaust denial…anti-Semitism…deception re the tenets of Islam; hatred toward Christians and Jews and Hindus and Buddhists. The pattern for all to see is the rise of Islamic intolerance and the covert/cultural jihad to remake host societies into sharia-compliant worlds – to remove host sovereignty and replace it with Islamic sharia law. Sharia law that condemns earthly liberty and individual freedom, that forbids equality among faiths and between the sexes, that rejects the concept of nations outside the global house of Islam, that of dar al-Islam.

STAGE 3: OPEN WAR w/ LEADERSHIP & CULTURE

Open violence to impose Sharia law and associated cultural restrictions; rejection of host government, subjugation of other religions and customs.
o Intentional efforts to undermine the host government & culture.
o Acts of barbarity to intimidate citizens and foster fear and submission.
o Open and covert efforts to cause economic collapse of the society.
o All opposition is challenged and either eradicated or silenced.
o Mass execution of non-Muslims.
o Widespread ethnic cleansing by Islamic militias.
o Rejection and defiance of host society secular laws or culture.
o Murder of “moderate” Muslim intellectuals who don’t support Islamization.
o Destruction of churches, synagogues and other non-Muslim institutions.
o Women are restricted further in accordance with Sharia law.
o Large-scale destruction of population, assassinations, bombings.
o Toppling of government and usurpation of political power.
o Imposition of Sharia law

The website www.thereligionofpeace.com keeps track of the number of violent jihad attacks as best it can. The site lists more than 14,000 attacks since September 2001. It is worth a visit. What is occurring, however, that is likely inestimable are events where muslims are bullied by other muslims for not being “muslim enough,” where non-Muslims are intimidated into doing or not doing what they desire, where remnant populations are in a death spiral simply for being non-muslim in a predominantly muslim area. Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists Animists and Atheists meet with death, property destruction or confiscation, forced conversion, rape, excessive taxation (the jizya), enslavement, riotous mobs and various other forms of islam (in-) justice at the hands of muslims in Sudan, Philippines, Kenya, Malaysia, India, etc. And let us not forget ‘death to Apostates’ the world over.

STAGE 4: Totalitarian ISLAMIC “THEOCRACY”

Islam becomes the only religious-political-judicial-cultural ideology.

o All non-Islamic human rights cancelled.
o Enslavement and genocide of non-Muslim population.
o Freedom of speech and the press eradicated.
o All religions other than Islam are forbidden and destroyed.
o Destruction of all evidence of non-Muslim culture, populations and symbols in country (Buddhas, houses of worship, art, etc).

The House of Islam (“peace”), dar al-Islam, includes those nations that have submitted to Islamic rule, to the soul crushing, liberty-condemning, discriminatory law of Sharia. The rest of the world in in the House of War, dar al-harb, because it does not submit to Sharia, and exists in a state of rebellion or war with the will of ‘Allah.’ No non-Muslim state or its citizens are “innocent,” and remain viable targets of war for not believing in ‘Allah.’ The Christian, Jewish, Coptic, Hindu and Zoroastrian peoples of world have suffered under subjugation for centuries. The Dhimmi-esce are forbidden to construct houses of worship or repair existing ones, economically crippled by the heavy jizya (tax), socially humiliated, legally discriminated against, criminally targeted and generally kept in a permanent state of weakness, fear and vulnerability by Islamic governments.

It should be noted that forced conversions (Egypt) and slavery (Sudan) are still reported. Homosexuals have been hung in the public square in Iran. Young girls are married to old men. Apostates are threatened with death. “Honor” killings are routine. Women are legally second-class citizens, though Muslim males insist they are “treated better” than in the West. These more obvious manifestations may distract from some less obvious ones such as the lack of intellectual inquiry in science, narrow scope of writing, all but non-existent art and music, sexual use and abuse of youth and women, and the disregard for personal fulfillment, joy and wonder. Look into the eyes of a recently married 12 year old girl to see the consequence of the moral deprivation spawned by Islam.

Unfortunately, the above doesn't see tho he has eyes. Warnmingof an impendiung storm is fear mongering? Telling people to lock their doors when they leave home is fear mongering? etc etc. people like you get into all sorts of trouble and then blame everyone else for it.

Those are radicals. I'm not defending them. What I am defending is the average Muslim who is just trying to live an ordinary life. Intolerant sentiments like those expressed in the snippet you posted are just meant to create fear and hate for a culture that is different. They have nothing to do with people blowing themselves up or instituting a primitive sharia law.

Terrorism and Radicals trying to force their way into our culture is bad but so far I've seen none of that. All I've seen of Muslims in this country are ordinary people trying to live their lives and sometimes that can be hard in a culture as varied as ours. That's no reason to spread fear about how foreigners are invading and trying to usurp us.

Think about me the next time you hear about the UK and the new wave of terror threats it faces from home-grown jihadists.

Bring it on. The average American is way more likely to go on a shooting rampage than any jihadi terrorist and we don't need any lofty religious reasons to do it. Here in the U.S.A. we'll blow away irritating coworkers, school bullies, criminals that break into our homes. Try to impose sharia law in America and see how fast your mosque gets burned down. We've been burning down churches and blowing up sporting events for years. Your terrorists are nothing compared to the home grown sort. These middle eastern terrorists are only ever successful because sharp dressed officials from unknown alphabet agencies keep escorting them through security checks. It's all a scam to take away more of our freedoms.

I trust that most of them who do come to America see how much better it is. If not them, then it's their kids who become as Americanized as the rest of us. Especially the women. when you move from a culture where you can be stoned to death for eloping, to a country where you can run around criticizing the government, speaking out against religion, calling the president names and having sex with anyone or anything you want. That's freedom and its a beautiful thing

If you defended christianity the way in which you defend Islam, I would believe you weren't an apologist - but that you were neutral about the status of religion.
