Here is a site that explains communicable diseases, not just TB. I hope you find it interesting.

So by using that logic, Mexicans are prone to TB, right?

Exposed yes, and some will be prone to developing the disease into its further stages. Many will become carriers.

I don't expect you to under the statistics behind it. Just that many third world country inhabitants are exposed to tropical diseases that might not be seen in established countries with proper health care system.

Not all Illegals are Hispanics, don't confused that or don't insert stuff that I haven't said.

we could probly help them get healthier then... we have many NO GMO zones etc and a lot of stores won't sell gmo crap etc.... we hardly get sick, as a lot of viruses cannot survive in such cold so we get milder flues etc, I actually don't know anyone personally who got the flue this year, supposed scary swine flu year
They will probly help lead the way in growing food at home, too I am good with a lot of fruits and veggies but I sure I could use some tips.

Oh but I will. Your II are 97% Mexican. Ours are a mix. Asians, Sri Lankans, Jamacians, Russians, Poles, Africans, hell, I could go on. And NONE of those are Mexican in any way. Your "disease" theory doesn't play.

I added the wrong study in the previous post, and the diseases are still in play amongst Illegals. If you want to mention the ethinicities so it looks better to you, then go for it. Learning is best when it is something you can understand your way.

The link above is for US immigrants.

I am going to offer a dissenting opinion it seems to the rest of my countrymen/women on this thread.

I don't want them, not if they come here illegally. If they take the time to actually apply for immigrant status before they get here cool. If not, get out of my country.

They can come here legally easy enough. Hell, they can apply for legal status when they arrive here. If they are refused, get out. Get out now. I don't want them here. I don't care where they come from. They do ity legally, good stuff. If not, get out. Our system is woefully inadequate at removing them. It seems that is part of the problem too. If they are refused refugee status, they don't leave because we won't go after them but my friend, who was married to a Canadian, in the process of getting permanent status, forgets to renew his visa for the reminder of the three months he needs it. He notices it has expired and goes to Immigration to see what he needs to do. Ya know the right thing.

What does Immigration do?

Puts him in a cell, and escorts him to the American Border and kicks him out of the country. He had a full time, well paying job. He had a 7 month old baby and his wife was a homemaker. His whole application went to hell because of this and he wasn't allowed back into Canada for 12 months.

Nope do not want. Go back where you came from if you can't do it legally.

There are many communicable diseases that immigrants can harbor and can expose others to who come in contact with them.

Another threat from illegal immigration is the spread of such diseases in regions where such diseases were previosly thought to have been eradicated.

But that wouldn't be an issue, as many such illegals will be welcomed by the Canadian Health System. They already have such a high pool of Phsycians & Hospitals to meet these demands and more. There facilities and resources are not being used at their maximum potential.

I know, Canada might sound sweet, and puppy like now, until they get the illegals on their property.

It isn't just TB, it's other diseases, and a huge increase in crime related to drugs, and all the rest.

It sounds nice Canada, but when you live it, you will change your minds!

I respect your opinon and that is how a majority of us Americans feel about our situation. We welcome with open arms who use the Legal Channels.

You are in the minority amongst your own countrymen/women. But if the opinions of the Canadians on this board are in favor of such a move in majority, Maybe the entire nation might feel the same.

Dude, your link is from 2002. I'm sure NK has nuke by now. They only thought they would back then.

Secondly, what does the stats for America have to do with Canada? I've already showed you that our II problem is so TOTALLY different than yours. To start with, we don't see it as a problem. Then again the gov't and media don't harp on it.

I don't mean this in a harsh way but it's a fact. You know not of what you speak. You are projecting American values to other cultures..... AGAIN!

Seriously man, when are Americans going to start to think for themselves. BIG world out there. I know that things suck in the States right now but instead of bitching about it maybe it should be time for the little guy to check more than his email and find out that there are different ways of doing things.

Off topic? NO!. This topic is projecting onto the board that Canadians are a weak people. That is not so. We are a tolerant people and it's working. While the world is afraid of "terrorism", we are not. We caught the "Toronto 18", threw them in jail and went about our business. We're more worried that a Canadian team didn't win the Stanley Cup again this year.

Who's living in "the land of the free and the home of the brave?" I'd say those without fear.

Economy? We bounced back quicker than anyone. Btw, has anyone else bounced back yet? There are other ways out there. One of them is the American Way. THAT is what's been missing in America in the last few decades. People came together to make a great land. Not anymore. Fear and suspicion are getting in the way of what made America in the first place. WHY ARE YOU LETTING THIS HAPPEN?

I think I'm going to make a thread.

I can't help but be confused about all this TB talk.
It's not like Canada is a TB-free paradise now. It's a serious problem in First Nations communities.

So we stock up on extra TB drugs, big deal. I'm pretty sure my smoking cigarettes is going to cost us all a lot more over a lifetime than a person with TB will.

Meh, we need more population.

Besides, the immigration process her is very easy and simple to accomplish.

All you need is a job and 3 years working in the country.

I say let 'em come.

~Keeper

That is what is being reported, its not about letting them come....They are already there and more are coming.

How long do you think jobs will last in Canada once you start seeing the same number of Illegls crossing into Canada as they do here in the US.

How about those Health Care visits? If Canadians think the lines are long now, I would hate to see what they are going to be in the coming months.

Well, economic disaster headed your way....Just when Canada was moved up the economic ladder as the 6th most economic stable country in the world.

Sure, you can doom and glood all you want about our econimic disaster.

Just remember why Illegals ruined your country, cause you allowed it to happen.

Were a bit more on the ball when it comes to those sorts of things, like I said.

They will not be illegals for long, as applying for permanent residency and then citizenship is EASY.

You don't get healthcare in Canada without your cards. Without cards you get billed, so I don't really see the point with the Health Care issue you raised.

It's a moot point.

~Keeper

A bit more on the ball? You make me laugh. Canada is not prosperous enogh to have the mass infulx of illegal foriegn immigrants YET. Unlike America and the UK.

And the Health care is sooo behind, its appauling. In Vancouver try and find a good doctor who is not Asian. They cant speak english properly and are close to dominating the white canadians there. I spent a year there in 2007 and it was appalling. Homeless everywhere and their own locals call Vancouver - Hongcouver because the Chinese Asian have moved in and destroyed everything.

I did my Year and got out. I hold dual UK and US citizenship and hate the illegal immigrants in both countries. I think Canada will be safe from this amount of immigration for years to come.

It is not about being on the ball because I worked for a company for 5 months without any formal permission and the canadian government even paid me for some of my services during that time. After 5 month I informed the immigration department I have been earning money and living in BC for 5 months without anything more than a stamp in one of my passports. I never heard back on the subject.

This however is just my opinion of Canada from only living in Vancouver...not in other cities. So it may be different else where but most review seem to list vancouver as canadas best "city". A very small city compared to London or New York in terms of populas and offerings.

THe only time this will happen is if the US economy completely falls down the toilet and then Americans will be the one crossing the border for their own needs. Everyone says....Canada is a smaller and poorer version of America. Plus immigrants don't like Hockey so they will stay far away!

Flu would be the least of your worries, there are other diseases that would of more immediate concerns than a flu.

I have no doubt in my mind with Canada's ability to take care of such diseases, I have some colleagues that were trained up North..though they chose to come practice down here in the US...the whole money thing. But as I stated earlier, Canada is in severe shortage of physicians & facilities. Not many physicians chose to stay up North even after training there because of the way specialists are treated over there.

Studies in medicine show precedence for a much longer time until newer studies are done to prove the older studies wrong. This study might be from 2002, but the correlation still remains valid.

You are not involved in the health care field, so wouldn't expect you to understand that.

Do you bother reading the posts actually? or just look for something to fight about?

I have stated that Canada was recently moved up as having the 6th most stable economy in the entire world.

It's the "below the border hype". We see it all the time Duzey. They just don't get it. We're not like them, don't want to be like them, unless we can get free cable and they just don't understand us. It's more to be pitied really.

One question my American friends, and I mean that:

IS IT WORKING? HOW LONG HASN'T IT BEEN?

Don't moarn the loss of what isn't working, dig yourselves out of what isn't. You just might bring my friend back to me again. It starts with the individual.

The TB talk was just to illustrate one of many unknowns immigrants can expose others too. Illegals do not really have their medical charts on them all of the time.

And I have already stated that Canada will surely be able to handle such situations. You do have a first class health care system, with highly trained and plenty supply of physicians, with lots of facilities that are not being utilized to their maximum potential.

This is about, illegals running over the border to Canada, no? Otherwise I've been responding to the wrong thread!

Oooookay, here we go. What unknowns would you be saying?

Disease is obviously high on your list. Damn drug dealers too. I'd even wager they would slap their own mother around. Machismo and all. Kick a dog? No prob for me, I was a letter carrier. Remember, we're talking about those 22+ million Mexicans. Not the Caribe people, Asians, damn, I've already gone there.

THIS JUST IN!

There's many other "unknowns" too. Like those that help people. I've got a post here about an illegal that saved a kids life as he was on the way TO AMERICA!!! Do you think he thought, "Um, if I save this kid I could be screwed."? What did he do? He did it anyway.

Yeah, UNKNOWNS. Why do you people thrive on the negative? I know and I know who to blame. FEAR. Who's done this to you? YOUR GD GOV'T AND THE MEDIA.

Time to turn off the TV. No info that you can use there. Internet guys. Read it all and decide yourselves.

Didn't even have to try. There's tons of them, with the exception of Richmond.

Yes, we have a homeless problem because of our climate. Homeless from all over Canada come here for the mild weather. Yes, there are people that call it Hongcouver but they are about what you'd expect from people who throw racial slurs around casually.

It sure did take those Chinese a long time to destroy our fair city though, they've been here since the turn of the century (and I don't mean 2000).

Maybe not...

Today, Ms. Sleiman and other Arab Canadians rate among the most passionate hockey fans in the country, second only to Italian Canadians. A new survey by Environics Analytics and Research Now looks at the game’s popularity through the prism of Canada’s other national preoccupation, our ethnic and cultural heritage. It also probes concerns about violence in hockey, support for NHL expansion in Canada and building new arenas with public money.

The survey shows that while roughly half of all Canadians say they are somewhat or very interested in watching professional hockey, the level of interest in several ethnic communities is much higher than the average. The results suggest hockey acts as a kind of glue in the Canadian mosaic. Becoming a hockey fan, for a new immigrant, is a very public way of declaring an identification with Canadian culture.

“Perhaps as they come to Canada, they want to be part of the fabric of Canadian society, and hockey is one of the things they latch on to,” said Doug Norris, chief demographer at Environics Analytics. “The Italians are substantially higher than everybody else. I think probably that goes back to the 1950s and 1960s, when that generation of Italians came to Canada and hockey was really hot in Toronto and Montreal. I think we’re seeing the same thing now with South Asians and other groups.”
