This is one of the reasons Im weary of having kids. You could do everything by the book right but something could just be broken in that kids head.

You lock your doors and windows and maybe keep a pistol in the nighstand in case of home invasion but does anyone lock the bedroom door or even consider using that pistol on your own kid as he comes into your bedroom with a knife or hammer?

Hell, the kid could just go outside and set the house on fire after blocking the doors.

People are insane. I do not enjoy the idea of having people in my home. Especially while I am asleep.

There was some kid in MA who stabbed his mother to death over an argument yesterday.

I'm not secluded enough.

The killer is 26. More of a man than a child but obviously not an adult.

Stabs mother in kitchen

Here are some other gems just from searching "mother stabbed" in Google News:

14 y/o girl stabs mother to death over internet use

Woman stabs grandmother to death

It's a fun world alright.

Another tragedy "caused" by video games. Let's just ignore all the other variables and agree that violent video games are responsible for this man's death. I mean really, what other reasons could there be?

What do you expect .. being reported from an Australian news paper? .. Australian media is hell bent against anything pleasuring. Internet, porn, video games, even "graphic" magazines.

how in the world is it the parents fault did the parents teach the kid if you dont get what you want kill them? come on this kid is not normal and deserves a lifetime sentence i have no remorse for people like him

Yes. In some aspect. Either it is nature or nurture. If he was 14, then either the parents knew that he wasn't firing on all cylinders and didn't do anything about it, or the parents are the reason he wasn't firing on all cylinders.

Also, was the Dad sleeping? How does a kid murder a grown man with a sledgehammer? The first strike would have to have come as a surprise with no defensive reaction.

Also, sadly, there is no amount of mental help that will "save" this kid. Not psychiatry, not drugs. So, might as well put him out of his misery. Either he will stay crazy, so might as well put him out of his misery now, OR, he will somehow grow through the craziness (not likely), but then as a sane individual he will have to live with the fact that he murdered his own father with a sledgehammer over a video game? Might as well put him out of his misery either way.

Truly I believe the kid needs to be examined for psychological problems. Of course he does. Then go from there. That he went right back to playing is a pretty good indication he's too removed from reality to get the 'big picture'.

I agree with you totaly. He was not all there.[to post a utube vid just get the YersIyzsOpc from the address bar on your browser]

I don't believe that. I mean I believe you are weary. My wife and I have talked about that before, but I don't believe you could do everything right and still have your own child murder you.

I have taken refuge dogs, that were supposed to be violent and showered them with love and "reformed" them.

If you love your child, and you make sure they know it, and you provide proper discipline, even when it hurts you more than them (I have a 2 and a 3 year old, and man does it suck to have to scold or punish them just for having a good time. It really sucks to watch their excitement turn into tears, but everyone has to learn about rules and consequences), even when it hurts you more than them, it is important to be an authority figure, and a role model, and it is even more important to show them how much you love them, even when you are mad at them!

Now, if they are just "broken" in the head. You will know. You will try everything in the world to get them help, and you will accept how much sacrifice you are willing to give for them. Maybe it means locking your bedroom door, or hiding their crimes, or maybe it means turning them over to a mental facility or a prison, but it won't be a surprise.

As for me, if my own child attacked me with a sledgehammer, and if I was truly surprised by it, and never saw it coming, I would be so heartbroken, that I would pray for death. I would probably help him hide the evidence with my last breathes.

I cannot stop noticing the evil in kids nowadays. Some more evil than others but all mostly evil. It takes a lot of effort from parents to keep their kids on the right track, especially with all the peer pressure.

I for one have decided that it it the wrong time to bring kids to the world. It may be ok in some 100 years time when good souls start coming back.

What I cannot stand are the parents who never discipline their kids and don't keep an eye on what they are up to.

In my days , if my parents stopped me from doing something I would probably sulk for a week. Then they would bring me back by taking me to some exciting event and everything would be fine.

It's no good trying to find excuses from what that beast did to his father.
I do not accept all the arguments about being a product of society, etc. You are dealing with pure evil hat has spread into the world.

I don't blame the video games or the kids. I blame the parents for allowing their addiction to reach the level where they disregard safety and others around them to get their cheap fix.

can`t understand how you think any game could make a person do this. how do you know he plays violent games? mabey he is just a nutter. i play most of the violent games i.e.suffering manhunt gta. if you can`t see thay are games its not the games fault, its the loonys fault. people need to stop shifting responsibility to objects and place it on the people who do crazy things. otherwise we`ll endup with everything band

Under the premise of this website's motto of "deny ignorance"- have you considered the following:

www.abanet.org...

pn.psychiatryonline.org...

Their age makes their behavior more understandable, not less so. These aren't even the best articles with the real science. Just food for thought regarding whether these individuals should be treated as children or adults in court. It may beg the question as to whether they are even mentally competent...

this case just in today

'Clockwork Orange' teens 'killed gay man'

Mr Baynham was out celebrating getting a new job with his partner when the attack, likened by a witness to a scene from 1971 film A Clockwork Orange, took place. "What happened was an all too familiar and depressing tale of drunken, loutish behaviour — but what they did went far beyond mere anti-social conduct," he said.
