The largest of the filaments, which is curling over the sun's northeastern limb, stretches at least 50,000 km from end to end. If it collapses and hits the stellar surface, the impact could produce a powerful Hyder flare. Readers with solar telescopes are encouraged to monitor developments
.

There are excellent "back yard telescope" images at SpaceWeatherdotcom

Does it look like they would reach Earth once the flairs "spit" out?
I'm just wondering because of the flairs and the Earth earthquakes "relationship".

Well, I dunno.

Looks like we can only wait and see, that last one took over a week to pop.

Equinox is coming up too... things may be happening.

Great find.

I am a HUGE fan of SOHO and Spaceweather.

Even if none of it affects the Earth, it is still amazing.
Even the Coronagraph showing the planets is cool too.

But, as you can find in the archives, these filaments are common.
So, I don't think this is a big deal.

Good Find Mod.

I think this would be something to watch with the real time magnomitor and soho feeds. To see if anything happens. That thing has been going a bit crazy latly the Sun I mean , Reminds me of a thread or prediction I read about CME waves having effects on our satalites in orbit. Similar to when lighning strikes and clears the Van allen radiation belt.

I read an article in the Canberra times not long ago about sun spots and the fact that the radiation from them can have an effect on ever day people to the point where we all need to work together once again to keep sane.

first interesting thing I found on google when I typed CME in was this

epact2.gsfc.nasa.gov... * very interesting stuff, you get a start mate. keep us uptodate.
