I have to agree, the funny part about it is Iraq didn't really want "liberation" and that was not what it was anyway.

Iran would actually be an act of "Liberation".

Funny how that works.

------------------

On a side note, Iran is one of the few middle eastern nations where my heart actually goes out to the people. I hope they revolt and win their freedom. Maybe then Iran can be a friend and not a foe.

Please..They are in pain? You have no idea what they are in. You fail to realize that for every person who is against the 'regime', there are larger numbers FOR the regime.

These people are not in pain.

i would really appreciate cuz it seems crazy and important to know about....

Anniversery of Iranian revolt that cast out western influence in Iran...and protests against the theocracy by the younger crowd.

Thats really about it for now...the protesters are getting their butts kicked. the day will pass with little more than filled jails and another year of the theocratic rule blaming the west for everything under the sun, from the protesters to toothaches.

Love how V for Vendetta trailer's audio is mashed up with Iran protest footage. Good stuff.

I hope today there are mass protests and revolts! But I do pity the ones who will get arrested and then executed tomorrow.

I have been reading for a month now and about 2-3 days ago registered, and this is my first post.

It is funny how everyone is just saying how bad the Iranian government is and how they suppress the people and…… But why doesn’t anyone think what about all the other countries which have the same problem but who never get such media coverage? Why didn’t USA or the west do anything during the Armenian elections when the government did the same thing? When it got Russian Spets naz in and the military and started shooting his own people 88 people died that day, over 2000 people were arrested and no one said anything? How reporters and TV stations were not allowed to show anything on TV and some reporters who tried to had the cameras confiscated or broken and were beaten?

All of this is a show so everyone thinks “o my god! How evil is Iran… well they sure are a threat to the world lets invade and free these poor people”

And I want to make it clear that I am not pro or against Iran, just making a point.

you know its funny cuz im watching both CNN and Fox News and they are both reporting with the same perspective and showing youtube videos of the protesters getting beat by police. But there are plenty of videos of American protesters getting beat up by police in the Bush era that never made the airwaves.

I'm not saying the Iran govt isn't doing something wrong, but im sure not trusting the news right now... the propaganda is way too obvious....

The sad truth is that this is the same thing that is happening in Venezuela, and even though there have been protests where millions, and millions of people are seeing protesting there is a propaganda machine going on around some circles and websites where it is claimed these protests are "some CIA coup"....

When millions of people are protesting against regimes like the Iranian regime, or the regime of Chavez immediately there are those who claim "this was done by CIA, and the people don't really want this"....even though there are MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of people protesting against these regimes...

And the sad truth is that many westerners in Europe, and around the world tend to side with these evil regimes...

Stupidity kills but not fast enough : i don't think you are pragmatic when you think about "freedom", "democracy", "revolution".

All those word have corrupted meaning in the common sense : you are not free, you are not in a democracy, this is not a revolution. (and 911 does not happen the way you think , ... )

I think US should send at least 100k troops there to help the protesters, they obviously can't handle it alone. But before that take few days to make em taste some good ol Made In USA™ Depleted Uranium®, if nothing else, that sure as hell is gonna change their minds - literally. Don’t bother calling for those good for nothing NATO sissies, they never get the job done properly, leaving things unfinished, no grunts, no even prison camps, they’re just “bomb ‘n run” wimps. But hopefuly them Jooz aint gonna take all the fun either.

When the good Muslims are losing against the bad Muslims then you know it’s time to sell some Freedom and Democracy®. The CIA of course has yet again shown its incompetence in solving problems by taking out someone's dog, daughter or wife or whatever - time for the Marines to take over this one.
If those guys don’t get the job done, just send the nukes for a nice big hole, it'd make soil all soft for drilling anyway. If nothing, some epic fireworks is what Americans have been waiting far all this freaking time, I can already see “Tehran Nuk’d full version with 5.1” DVD for only $29.99 selling like hotcakes in wal-marts – ya might also want to fire up extra Youtube servers before nuking.

Feel free to fire up your SUV's people for when you win this one, your kids may have a chance to buy and sure as hell drive not wimpy Hummers but god damn army tanks! All that oil is just waitin for you to waste it. Iraq was like taking candy from a baby, but this one will be like taking a freaking candy shop from baby's parents and its uncle too.

End of obvious sarcasm
.

Exactly!!… That is what I am saying if you are not in that country how can you form an opinion based on just the mass media? Each side is feeding propaganda after propaganda….

I am calling my friend in Tavriz but can't get through... Will try more and if anything will post

I think these people would disagree...
8.28am:
Riot police have shot at protesters in the Ariashahr area of central Tehran after people chanted slogans against the supreme leader Ayatollah Khameni, according to the opposition website Rahesabz.

The granddaughter of Ayatollah Khomeini, has been arrested according to Reuters, citing an opposition website. She is also the sister-in-law of the reformist ex-president Khatami.

The Jaras website said Zahra Eshraqi and her husband Mohammad Reza Khatami, were detained during the rallies. Jaras said the son of a leading opposition figure Mehdi Karroubi was also detained.

There are also reports on Twitter of clashes between protesters and riot police in the city of Isfahan, south of Tehran.

You want to claim "the protesters are just people getting hyped by some CIA guy" and then in another post you want to claim people are not using their brains in this website?...

There are dictatorships ALL OVER THE GLOBE and people can't defend themselves because in such dictatorships people do not have weapons, and they have to spend a lot of time just trying to survive, and find food for their families...

You sir are a dellusional, biased person....and I am holding my tongue, or in this case my fingers...

Let me give you an example...sir... did you know that the Islamic regime of Sudan ordered a jihad against Christians, and Arab militias which are not the mayority in Sudan murdered over 2 million people, and displaced millions more?....

The same regime announced another jihad in 2003, and this time against black non-Arab Muslims, and at least 500,000 people have been murdered, and millions have been displaced....and the numbers of the Arab Muslims in Sudan do not number in a mayority....

The same thing is happening in dictatorships ALL OVER THE GLOBE, but some...people... have the galls to claim that if the people wanted to they could overthrow such dictatorships?....

Such people only show they are ignorant and dellusional.....

.....Don't fear any of your dellusions, instead fear the fact that there is a "Progressive/Democrat" administration, and there is a mayority Democrat House, and Senate, and like what happened when Clinton was in office the troops will be sent instead to "quell the dissenters"... After all you seem to be from Serbia and you should know a bit about that....

Instead of trying to defend the people who have no weapons, and are asking for FREEDOM in their country, let's go after those "evil dissenters"...

How dare they protest agains an Evil, i mean good Islamic extremist regime?...

How dare they protest against the hangings of young girls who dared look upon a boy, or who were raped yet there weren't any male witnesses to back up her story so instead she is hanged for being raped...

How dare they want to stop all the hangings occurring because of an Evil, i mean good Islamic extremist regime?...

How dare they want to live free, and not have any fear of retaliation by the Evil, i mean good Islamic extremist regime because they want freedom?...

So, let's go after the dissenters...after all how dare they want to live free?...

When Democrats/Progressive are in power they seem to go after the dissenters.... that's "freedom" for ya.....

BTW, fear not because as can be seen such evilness is being implanted in western countries, and soon enough we will find ourselves in the shoes of the Iranians who are daring to protest against an evil Islamic extremist regime, but instead in the west we will have to protest against an evil Socialist dictatorship who is hell bent in installing a one World Socialist dictatorship....

I think the purpose of the original post was to draw attention the what is happening to the people of Iran. They are obviously in pain and have little faith in the future of their country. It is interesting that the USA haters, most from the US, need to chime in and say "we are no better, look at..." Every country has it's good and bad points.

When the protestors at the G20 where arrested it was covered by every news organization in the west. We are talking about teenage girls being beaten and shot as a policy of the Iranian government, then being completely covered up. A definate conspiracy and evidence of a malicious regime.

What about Zimbabwe's tyrannical leader? If this was about people beaten and assassination of the opposite side, why haven't the western civilization preached about Zimbabwe?

The fact is these kinds of countries aren't any use to the west because they don't contain oil or strategic military points. That is why the media doesn't cover those nations that are worse off then Iran.

I always remember how I gained my freedom. It was because of those that stood up and fought for the power to decide their own fates. I hope that these people can live a life with the same choices without suffering the torture that is prevalent on 2/11/2010

I hope so too, in a peaceful manner. Either way, we have no right to butt-in another countries affairs. We already seem to omit a presence of a bully, which wen need to stop. We need to learn to become more diplomatic instead of bossing everyone around.

I am a little confused regarding some posts here... First of all i understand that there are other places where this has happened , however i was just trying to update anyone interested with the events which were happening yesterday in Iran.

Relating "fake tweets" , i can say that there were basically hundreds of tweets every single second . Most of the videos confirm what the tweets were saying. Most of the tweets were coming with a picture or video .

If everything was false...why did they restrict the internet , cut off mobile messaging , shut down most media centers except the ones they wanted to be on. Why did they use the camera angle so it would show just the "supporters of the regime" which you can clearly see that had been brought with tens of buses by the regime and were not people from Tehran , when you can clearly hear in most of the videos even during the broadcast the crowd changing " Death to the dictator". If everything is false why are people dying? why are executions happening? Why was the leader of the opposition beaten and attacked by the millitia?

What i find worrying is that now every single country which has protests or revolts will be blamed on the US. Yes it's CIA coverup! YES the evil west orchestrated everything .

Before coming in the USA , i lived in Romania and in 1989 there was a revolution to remove the communist regime. I can assure you that there was no CIA involved and people died. Many people died and many got hurt. I see the same happening there.

Regarding the president's announcement regarding the "blow" to the west , the announcement was about the laser technology. They already have it enriched at 20% , now with this laser enrichment technology they can easily enrich it to 80% +.

All i have to say is that , whatever some of you say the people there are suffering , if i could cover every person suffering in the world i would , i just thought of doing my part in this tiny bit. I hope they will be ok and that someday they will get what they want and deserve .

AN claiming the first convoy of 20%-enriched nuclear fuel produced "the day before yesterday"

So they weren't joking. They did it.

So, now it's time to see if they'll use the fuel for "good" rather than evil. I hope the Iranian people are able to benefit from this nuclear technology.
