A 59-year-old Brazilian man has surprised his family by turning up at his own funeral

Relatives of Ademir Jorge Goncalves, a bricklayer, had identified him as the victim of a car crash in southern Parana state the previous day.

Police told O Globo newspaper that relatives had trouble identifying the corpse because it was badly disfigured.

It emerged that Mr Goncalves had spent the night drinking a rum-like liquor called "pinga" with his friends.

He did not get word of his funeral until it was already happening on Monday morning, his niece Rosa Sampaio said.

She said some family members - including herself and the man's mother - had doubts, but an aunt and four fr

This has got to be one of the funniest stories ive heard for a while.

Im not quite sure what "pinga" means in Brazilian but when i did a search for it on google images so i could post a pic all that popped up was gay porn! [shudder]

Just what would you say to everyone after walking up to your own funeral?

Hmmm... turning up for your own funeral! ha! ha!

Can imagine being looked at as if to say 'it's a ghost' or 'you're dead' 'holy cow' wouldn't sur[rise me to see a couple of people faint....

Reminds me of Alfred Noble reading his own obituary in the paper. He read it and didn't like it. So using the money he had made inventing TNT, he founded
the noble peace prize.

Both the Alfred Noble incident recanted in the previous paragraph and the Brazilian both demonstrate that the option existed for them to change their life in midstream.

Just to clarify I'm not saying that the Brazilian changed his life, just that the option is there if he wanted to do it.
