Well. This was something Obama said.. and to this day NO ONE has elaborated on the details of this security force.

So I can guess either: A) There are no plans for this.
B) They are still waiting for the right time to introduce such a program.

yeah I have heard about this, I think Glenn Beck talked about it. But the biggest question that comes to mind is "WHY?"

I think there is 2 possibilities for this. A civilian force that is controlled by civilians because maybe he knows something is coming like UN forces or NWO armies. either that or its FOR the NWO's army. but I doubt civilians will take orders from the NWO leaders, but then again everyone has there "price" which scares me. put people in a vulnerable place then give them pay for being part of the NWO? sounds like a pretty smart plan, cuz the NWO has all our money anyways.

Unfortunately I can easily see people being brainwashed into this. One good false flag is all it would take.

Hence the right time.

And yes it's possible Obama is planning to set up an insurance policy for america, in the form of a trained, armed militia that is there to fight against foreign invaders or a a tyrant.. but I doubt it.

Ahah, these people that dont stop clapping, they remind me of Stalin's subjects. They clapped and clapped and no one dared stop, and it went on countless minutes, til people started getting tired, and then some stopped. Next day they were executed.
Clapping used to be for something that was good!

I'm as wary as anyone on ATS of creeping fascism in the US but
I don't find Americorps/vista volunteers swearing an oath to defend
the Constitution creepy at all, in fact I LIKE the idea.

JKF created VISTA as a way of getting civilian volunteers to help
with many projects. I have great respect for anyone who volunteers
their time and effort to help make America a better country to live in.

I WILL start worrying if they swear personal allegiance to Obama
which is what was required of the Brownshirts (Pledge to Hitler
personally).

Anyways, Hitler liquidated the Brownshirts as a rival power faction
once he had used them to intimidate the minorities and unionists
in the Night of the Long Knives. Their leader, Ernst Rohm along with
a few others were assassinated.

There might be more important things to worry about than kids who
want to give their time and talent to help others.

I think Obama is the same as Bush, he's just the flip side of the same
coin as it were. YES, there is creeping fascism in the land and the cult
of personality is hard at work for Mr Obama. You might recall that Bush
had the same sort of blind popularity going on too at least until the
public soured on the war in Iraq and the state of the economy.

What we really need to worry about most is increased restrictions on
our freedoms (especially the 1st and 2nd amendments), the economy
and whatever measures they take to stablize our financial system.

Same here.

Me, too.

I'm not sure what scares people about this except the whole outlandish Hitler comparison thing. And that's enough to scare people who are looking for something to be scared about.

Remember that HR 1388 The GIVE Act or Serve America Act becomes effective in October!! Just in time for an October surprise, Swine Flu vaccine crisis, etc etc. They have been gearing up for this for quite some time. I am not sure what will happen. I can assure you that I will remain very aware.

SEC. 6101. EFFECTIVE DATE. (a) In General- This Act, and the amendments made by this Act, take effect on October 1, 2009. (b) Regulations- Effective on the date of enactment of this Act, the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation for National and Community Service may issue such regulations as may be necessary to carry out this Act and the amendments made by this Act.

Well the good thing is that Obama sure as hell is not going to get Righties standing in line to join.

And Obamas base, young liberals are generally opposed to war and violence...

Just my take

You like the idea that they're getting put int their head that they're going to have TO FIGHT ENEMIES?

And do you really believe that the Leftists who run these groups are going to have the common sensical interpretation of the Constitution?

No they're going to have their made-up "living document" BS explanations to justify all their social experimentations.

Then these kids are going to have it drilled in their head that anyone opposed to the social experiments is actually an enemy of the Constitution and that they have a duty to fight that person... even by informing on them if need be.

How may of them actually know whats in the constitution to begin with?
I know no one ever taught me in school I had to learn it on my own. I take that back because it was touched on briefly here and there, but not enough for anyone to really grasp it. I doubt these people will really know what they are fighting for. as far as who will and who won't sign up. Well, everyone can be bought for a price. Job security, financial security, safety, their life.

You make an excellent point there vince. I consider myself a
Constitutionalist and the idea of swearing an oath to defend is
not anything bad in my mind.

As you say, there may be much room for interpretation as far
the lefties like to call it a "living document " and use that as
justification for some their social engineering agenda. That could
bring on some scary scenarios.

I did skim through the text of the bill and one of the possiably
alarming things I found were some paragraphs about
responding to disasters and national emergencies. Precisely
what role they might play in such would be the catch. Would they
be our national "snitch" club? The citizen's "enforcer" group?

Other paragraphs say they should assist in gathering
information. MMMMMMM................Junior census helpers?
Police informants? Odd timing that this should take effect Oct.1
- around when the swine flu should be cranking up.
