The only people who oppose such a system, do so because they are greedy and selfish.

You have it totally upside down.

Sorry, but what's selfish is people wanting others to pay for their services like healthcare. What's selfish is people wanting something for nothing. What's selfish is people wanting to take a easy ride off the backs of hard working individuals. It's my money and I earned it and NO, you cannot have any. I will choose who I want to help.

The taxpayer already pays for their food stamps, WICA, welfare, medicaid, medicare and housing. I'm sure I am missing something. Do you want a new car also?

Sorry to be so blunt but this is the typical "every man for himself" attitude that the world could do with less of!!!

People should care for one-another and contribute to a all-for-one health system!!!

Otherwise, what have we become???!!!!

Only lazy people want others to provide for them? Sir, you are so lacking in any real information about your fellow humans, that I am utterly speechless. It has been quite a while since I have come across such a shallow and unfounded statement.

That's proper narrow minded.

I'm glad I'm not so selfish and God help, if there is one - and if there isn't let the not so selfish help people like you.

I pity you.

I reply with a quote from another, related thread:

quoted post

"To all those of you south of the border...you live in one of the only industrialized countries in the world where the government does not pay for a signifigant (if not all) amount of healthcare.

the USA ranks 45th in the world for life expectancy
bosnia herzegovina ranks 42nd
Canada ranks 14th.
puerto rico (a US territory) ranks 41
Jordan ranks 40.

I wonder who is profiting most from the low US life expectancy?
(sorry, last comment was biting, but nonetheless makes a point)

wikipedia "

How can NHC be any worse than the existing paradigm?
Remember when everyone thought HMO's were evil?

wow.

Umm...yes!
Give me another reason why people would want others to provide for them.

But that is whats funny.
Your entire belief system is based on selfishness. YOU want others to provide goods and services for you instead of YOU going out and earning it. Oh, the irony and hypocrisy.

You are SO wrong.

Hopefully it won't be YOU in need without two pennies to rub together!

How utterly selfish.

You are completely selfish.

But there is one thing....

At least YOU'LL be ok!!!!!!!!!

Here is a question for you.

Does the UK Parliament or Royalty fall under this healthcare system that everyone else in the UK gets?

Or do they get special treatment? or a better plan than everyone else?

Who cares what US Senators think. You run your country your way and we'll run our country our way. Our National Health Service is one of Britain’s most treasured institutions, that’s touched the lives of hundreds of millions of people and saved countless lives and the fact that we all contribute to improving & saving other people's lives is what makes it all so worthwhile and we wouldn't have it any other way.
The only people who oppose such a system, do so because they are greedy and selfish.
I guess your motto is "all for one and to hell with everyone else".

Stephen Hawking is an intelligent man no doubt but he is wrong. Do you think the NHS would be there for him if he were not "Stephen Hawking"?

The Federal Government is already too big, and you people want to increase it's size? What is wrong with you?

The Federal Government is already involved with health care, and you want to increase it's power with the issue? Again, what the hell is wrong with you?

Wake up mate.

It's not about being lazy.

Here in the UK we ALL contribute (whether we choose to go private or not) to everybody's health care!

We ALL do it. GET IT??

IT'S ABOUT health.... ..... ...... ..... CARE!!!!!

A round of applause for MR. "me first"

Repeating yourself does not make it so.
Again, your ideology is based on selfishness. YOU want others to provide for you. That is the definition of being selfish.

Give you an example? You've got to be joking. Judging from your statements I would have to begin ....... way back in a 7th grade civics class, whip you through high school, and then maybe throw in a couple of college courses? I don't think so. It is your education that needs improving, not mine. I've done my studying. Your turn.

Seriously, read some books. Do some volunteer work with a social service agency (observe, try not to talk), go for a ride along the cops.

Get to know your country, and your fellow man. Try to gain some kind of understanding about the social problems our country now faces. Visit some nursing homes. Go sit in the waiting room of a free clinic and eavesdrop. Surely there is something you can do to gain some understanding of what kind of country you REALLY live in. I think you would grimace to come back later and read what you wrote. I do. It might help you to gain compassion for your fellow man, and to understand that problems are far much more profound than you ever imagined....

Be sensible...

They don't come under the same rules as anyone else FULL STOP.

They are well off enough to get everything paid for or gratis.

The argument is not about them.

Don't confuse matters, THEY - will always be doing better than everyone else!

No, I don't get it.
Your government has done a great job with propaganda because you actually believe it's great that you NEED and REQUIRE the government for your services including healthcare. Your government has made you happy that you need to suck on their nipple for life. Wow!

My country and my fellow man?

To me, the guys in Texas are as alien as the guys from Ireland. I live in New York, I have absolutely no ties to Texas, except for the fact both States are a part of the United States.

Like I said, the people of Texas are no different to me than the people of Ireland. Do you suggest I pay for the Irish and their health care too?

Hell, I barely even know my neighbors, and you expect me to go to work and give them my paycheck so they can get their hemorrhoids looked at?
