Any stuff you might come across in history to do with Sirius is due to the Egyptians who worshipped Sirius because it appeared about the same time as the Nile floods.


Hold on ... that might mean life isn't similar to Earth life, but it does not mean there aren't complex enough systems for consciousness to rise in the star system.
