While everybodys attention is on RFID are we missing the bigger picture? What about GPS?

If it is possible to listen in on private conversations through a cell phone and it is now possible to watch through a webcam, or a camera lense on your new HD TV. Also consider that the digital TV transition was allegedly brought about to free up bandwidth for analog VHF and UHF frequencies for RFID. Then would it not be possible to say hack into your GPS on your vehicle and over ride the vehicle operator. Are we trusting our lives to technology and at what expense?

This is the kind of stuff we ask for as consumers and the powers that be are happy to give it to us.

People who open these things never find cameras but they could disguise a tiny cam or speaker as a chip i suppose.

Thats what I thought also, until I was at a hotel and saw a camera lense on the inside of an HDTV right in plain sight.

You sure that was not just a dead pixel? Mind you a hotel would be a great place for a hidden camera!

so far as the GPS idea goes you would have to combine the GPS tech with some others to be able to 'spy' - it's not hard at all, an example would be a GPS equipped mobile phone... The GPS data could be transfered to the interested party via the GSM, or even the bluetooth... The phone could record all your GPS movements and then upload them in one go - or provide a 'live' feed (bet you should really be able to notice that - your phone will always be connected.

But with the mobile phone idea they can already triangulate your position by getting your phone to search the local masts - much easier.

Yeah it was a hotel and Casino none the less.

But make no mistakes the cameras are installed by the manufacturer.
