Minty, the OP did a good job of bringing people to the thread. He didn't post it as "A Nostalgic look at Hitler" or "Your fondest memories of the Third Reich". Just "A thought on Hitler".

What the OP gave us was a past example of the "cult of personality" we are seeing in the United States right now. No one can say for certain if our president is a closet Muslim or even a natural born American constitutionally endowed to hold the presidency. And yet so many people are blind to this. They never held him up to the scrutiny the other candidates received. Very similar to ignoring Hitler's shortcomings. Obama told people what they wanted to hear. "We can have clean energy". Who the hell doesn't want clean energy? Hitler made similar promises to the Germans. "We can be a thriving nation leading the world." What impoverished German didn't want that?

When Obama has been questioned, instead of providing the proof (Hawaiian birth certificate) or proclaiming to the Islamic world "I am first and foremost a Christian" this man has dodged and double talked. He travels through the middle east noting that he grew up in Islamic countries and attended Islamic schools and don't for minute think he was not an active Muslim like his various "fathers" while there. Fundamentalist Muslims believe "once a Muslim always a Muslim". The penalty for leaving Islam is death. Don't think he is not fully aware of this and is using it to his advantage and our undoing. He wants to fit everyone's standard. He is what you think he is. He remains a man of mystery to the world and to us. Do you think the Germans knew the intimate thoughts and facts regarding Hitler? They knew he was a patriotic WWI hero, that was enough. We know Obama was a liberal minority university law professor and that for many was enough.

Black Americans thought this guy was from inner Chicago and a Christian. They thought he grew up in their black experience. For a few years in Chicago he was simply another corrupt politician building a false reputation and minority backing while attending his wife's militant Christian church. "Community organizer", WTF does that mean? How many blacks knew he would be destroying their jobs, taxing them mercilessly, promoting the gay agenda, backing abortion, dissolving their rights and stretching our military even thinner a few months after the election? How many minority Christians would have supported a candidate with strong Islamic leanings? All things that go against the will of or severely impact on the blacks that supported him. He only told them the good parts, "I'm gonna create jobs". He never hinted at the consequences, "I'm gonna destroy the America you want to be a larger part of". But they voted for him because they thought he would represent their self-serving liberal views and the Germans did the same with Hitler when they were in dire economic straights. Look it up.

There's nothing wrong with Obama being a Muslim or a Muslim sympathizer, there's plenty wrong with not divulging it. His Muslim upbringing was downplayed and was largely off limits to questioning during the campaign. Obama did hint that he would placate Iran if elected and so that should have been a sign of what was to come. But the country wanted anyone and anything different than Bush and so they accepted that. The Germans wanted anyone and anything different than poverty and so they accepted Hitler.

There were other choices for the US but not with the heartwarming minority legacy. A false legacy at that. What topic could we not approach regarding McCain or any other candidate? None! Don't you think there were limits on what was asked of Hitler? Don't you think his propaganda machine deflected any tough questions? Something like what Robert Gibbs does on a daily basis on network television? "That's nonsense, he's not a Muslim, we've got photographs of him in a Christian church, you've all seen for yourselves." And look I'm just hitting on the religion issue but there's a multitude of issues that are worthy of intense questioning. But Obama's White House henchmen are like Hitler's generals ready to politically destroy those that question without their approval. All of Obama's press conferences are orchestrated, haven't you noticed the teleprompter? No questions that haven't been pre-approved and the answer purified and rehearsed. Nothing more than what he/they want us to know. How rehearsed were Hitler's propaganda speeches? Because someone thought about it and questioned we all know.

Sorry to get off on a tangent but this is why we discuss historical events. Hopefully to learn and uncover the roots of past evils so that they don't regrow in our times. Hitler was a horror we would all like to forget but curiosity is not such a bad thing.

Both of your post makes sense to me.

Your right to display the characteristics of deception and propaganda the Nazi's used and we use today. After all they were backed by the same force which operates and funds those who are in power today. After the Reichstag came the Enabling Act of 1933, and 9/11 brought the Patriot Act of 2001.

Good stuff.
