That "ray gun" was easily defeated with a mattress held up in front of it.

Lot's of people are going to die. There is no stopping that. It is what happens.

It isn't a matter of IF its a matter of WHEN the doomsday scenario plays out. It's already in the cards. I don't want it to happen, but there is a 99.9% chance that it will. And no the citizens won't get "Annihilated" you underestimate survival instinct.

Good point, I stand corrected. Stalin had pretty bloody hands too, for sure, but technically I think you are correct.

Now, Fascism or Socialism?

I guess the people will decide...or the bourgeoisie supported groups that will bring capitalism by force

Glimmer of hope lies in technology such as the internet. TPTB would LOVE to control the internet

i've seen many intense fallacies propagated in this thread, but this one takes the cake.

they could easily do that, at some cost, they won't do it anytime soon, however, because it's a double edged sword and they *can* take down sources with unpleasant content. my bookmarks are full of dead links, about GMO crops, about 9/11 - you name it. the archive has come under attack before and the original content provider can defintely make it unavailable, too.

furthermore, (wrt the double edged nature of the beast): whatever you type here will have consequences. especially if and when tshtf, but they don't need to be dramatic or easily recognized. at the very least you will influence all of us who read the stuff, but i' not talking about that, you know. systematically analysing internet traffic can be used to anticipate moves, which is bad news if you wish to depend on clandestine action, which could be as simple as out-maneuvering the cordon police during an open protest and/or busting agent provocateurs...

www.youtube.com...

www.guardian.co.uk...

talk about it on the internet and they will send another guy you don't know yet. you might be late in the game when he's starting to set things on fire, of course and get tear gassed as a result - etc.

which brings me to the last issue: much of this forum is esoteric babble. some of us can walk between the turds without stepping on one, but use it as a source and the unprepared visitor will slip and come out caked in garbage. then look at my sources, youtube - MSM video cut - guardian, a news outlet. whenever i post something genuinely 'internetty' it'll be unsourced or a blog (which is dangerously close to MSM newspapers, btw).

the internet by itself is as much a chance to lead paranoid people on a goose chase as it is a danger to people in power. in conjunction with the usual audience, though, the danger is mitigated out of existance, because today's censorship doesn't rely nearly as much on culling information as it does on brainwashing potential readers.

PS: capitalism? communism? fascism (well, you have a slight point there) are you kidding me?? how's a system with constant gov't intervention, hundreds of obscure 'free trade' treaties and regulations, subsidies everywhere and a tax burden of roughly 50% across the west related capitalism?

you don't know capitalism, i don't know capitalism, nobody knows it, because it never existed (and never will, it's an idealized version), argueing about words strikes me as futile. oh, before i forget it, do you have any clue about fractional reserve banking? just asking, because at the first glance, few poster in ths thread have. unfortunately, the 'fed' is the lynchpin, you can't talk about the rest (=everything economic, in effect) in isolation without approaching orthodox cosmology in level of accuracy.

I would like to share a moment in time with you. It was the morning of September 11, 2001 at approximately 9:50 am. I was at work on the 23rd Floor and had just witnessed the second plane slamming into the world trade center. The office atmosphere was palpable, thick and heavy. People I had worked with for less than 3 months were terrified, paralyzed with confusion and shock, afraid the attacks might continue throughout the United States.

A young, college graduate stood outside my cubicle with tears running down her face. She said "I've never had to do anything for myself, I don't know what will happen to me."

I was shocked by her reaction. Countless people at work, like us, were just killed and her reaction was one of pure selfishness. Not one tear for the thousands who just lost their lives, not one tear for the nation itself, not one tear for anyone except herself.

I was disgusted yet empathetic and encouraged her to know that she could do whatever it takes if it ever came to that. But, she insisted that her place in the world was assured by others and that is how she wanted it to continue. Not ever having to do anything for herself, never suffering the slightest loss or hardship. That was what she cried for on that day.

That, I'm afraid, is the state of the majority of Americans. At least the Americans that I've had the displeasure to be acquainted with.

Paranoia is a thought process characterized by excessive anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. Paranoid thinking typically includes persecutory beliefs concerning a perceived threat towards oneself.

Most recently, the clinical use of the term has been used to describe delusions where the affected person believes they are being persecuted. Specifically, they have been defined as containing two central elements:

1. The individual thinks that harm is occurring, or is going to occur, to him or her.

2. The individual thinks that the persecutor has the intention to cause harm.

Across the country growing numbers of tax payers are stating that they will not pay anymore taxes. Promising to not file and just to refuse to pay, growing numbers of US tax payers have said enough is enough;

Sounds like right-wing (un)Americans, who in a time of crisis, are unwilling to do their share in order to save their beloved capitalism.

The Tea Party movement continues to grow, as the anger of the American people over government waste

I thought after their first failed attempt they had completely given up. At least mainstream media is doing their part in ignoring these people.

This is the choice that each of us will soon face. It is for this reason that we must have a plan of action to intervene when the opportune moment arrives in the lives of deniers we know and deal with; we must have answers and facts to attack each argument the denier has to continue in their psychosis. Any other ideas?

Irony.

That, I'm afraid, is the state of the majority of Americans. At least the Americans that I've had the displeasure to be acquainted with.

So you're saying instead of preoccupying our time worrying about these perceived threats, and concentrating on what would be best for "me," we should focus instead on the nation, pay our taxes, and do our part as Americans by standing behind our government or, at the very least, hope for its success in saving the economy and providing universal healthcare? I agree wholeheartedly.

No, you are right on topic. And I am one of those who believes SHTF is happening real soon; a soldier who has seen this exact slide into hell before. Thank you for your post.

i totally agree with you. the staggering loss of jobs, growth and price hikes with us united states citizens is amazing. i have been a small business owner for over 10 years and the look of dread and dispair written all over my friends faces, eats me up inside everyday. i dont think people have the heart to stay in salvation mode for much longer. i beleive that is why there seems to be a cop in or around about every third block. any how i agree that you can almost taste change in the air, for good or bad.

Dealing in the circles I deal in, armed revolution is a forgone conclusion for one important reason, the oath we took to defend and support the Constitution and Bill of Rights from all enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC. We have our duty, and we have our honor; an enemy is an enemy, period.

So it is with every officer I personnally know here at work. Always has been since 1971 when I first joined, did my +20 and now as a contractor.

1) You actually expect us to take seriously the word of somebody who decides to take the name of one of Illinois most corrupt politician for himself?

2) on the "un-american" comment regarding taxes. I'd say they're being very patriotic as the Federal Income Taxes, believe it or not, are actually unconstitutional. The 16th amendment was NEVER officially ratified. So therefore, you NEVER had to "pay your fair share" In fact, if you actually bother to look at the IRS's manual (I can't remember the title) it actually DOES state in one of the paragraphs, that filing for taxes is VOLUNTARY NOT MANDATORY!!!! The ONLY taxes, that I'm aware of that are legal (aside from sales taxes and what not) are STATE taxes, because those pay for the roads, schools, police etc. of YOUR state.

The only reason why people continue to do so though is a) they, like yourself, are too stupid or willfully ignorant to know otherwise, or b)they have been bullied or threatened to do so, or pay with harsh consequences.

Denial...

The state controlled media (Project Mockingbird) has really been pushing so hard that everything is turning around, we have turned the corner, the worst is over... This is just the wind up... After the just-above-subprime mortgages start resetting in the fall (interest rates going up) causing more defaults and (hyper?) inflation starts biting into us (the "Federal" Reserve has printed more monopoly money over the last few months than since its inception in 1913) and the timed and manipulated stock market crashes again after the latest round of pump and dump from the banks (banks took Fed's worthless paper fiat dollars from the bailout and used them to make their toxic debt disappear from their balance sheets making them appear profitable so that they can now issue new stock options to further raise their balance sheets which will cause the house of cards to come tumbling down after they take their priofit and lure the sheep back into the market thereby decimating retirement and saving accounts across the board, causing further defaults etc. and so forth add naseum) things are going to get primal. Things are gonna get real. People do scary things when they are starving.

Simmering 4th gen and 5th gen war are likely with a large dose of day to day survival sprinkled on the festering mass of humanity "getting real" with ourselves.

My wife knows about everything but requests I don't tell her about any of it anymore. She doesn't want to know about it anymore. She wants Denial. We have our preps laid in and she wants to be in denial so that she can enjoy how things are now before things get nasty.

Sometimes I wish I could put the toothpaste back in the tube as well but sadly I've been watching events occur over the last decade that I have been waiting for since the 1980's when I woke up.

I find it humorous when folks lash out against people against taxes etc. and say they are not willing to stand up for capitalism. We do not have capitalism here and I don't know if we ever have had pure capitalism. We live in a Judgeo-Corpocracy. The corporations own the Supreme Court who "interprets" the Constitution (which was written to not require interpretation) at their whim and makes new law to protect and aid their masters.

When your neighbor figures out he can't make bake his 52" plasma TV in the microwave and eat it and comes looking for food you will know the denial is over.

Keep it dry.

I have always been in favor of a one world government that allows us the same freedoms we have now but with the worlds resources being evenly distributed based on consumption. We would eliminate hunger and energy issues quickly. Each country could remain the same, with their own local governments and laws but all main governments would report to a worl gov't that is comprised of elected officials representing all nations in the world. if done correctly and by the right people this seems to me the best way to appease everyone. But like always Greed and power gluttony will be a thorn in civilized society. Higher ups that have ground us like beef and shredded our country need to be taken down and examples need to be made if you are going to be taken seriously.

If the New American revolution is on its way i say strap up and bring it on, i'd rather die than be made a pawn and be lied to my face anymore, we deserve the truth and deserve to be treated better than we have, anyone who stands by and lets it happen deserves what they get in the end. It's time to put up or shut up and even if i am all alone i will be putting up til teh last breath leaveth my lungs and i ascend to the stars.

Nice analysis !

I've posted this image in other threads, and since it's already sitting in the ATS media basket, it's easy to post here too -

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/15fccb1c2e74.jpg[/atsimg]
With regard to the current situation and, indeed, how we got to this point, everybody is on the scale someplace, from 1 to 5 ...

Since we're getting all psychological, here are couple more terms which seem to be very intimately mixed into the general psycho-social environment -

Plugged Into It All, We're Stressed to Distraction

We're shooting through technological rapids that have opened doors and changed the dynamic of work, how we communicate and live, and sometimes even think. All these tools have made our lives easier in many ways. But they're also stirring deep unease. Some are concerned that the need for speed is shrinking our attention spans, prompting our search for answers to take the mile-wide-but-inch-deep route and settling us into a rhythm of constant interruption in which deadlines are relentless and tasks are never quite finished.

Scientists call this phenomenon "cognitive overload," and say it encompasses the modern-day angst of stress, multitasking, distraction and data flurries.

Source : seattleTimes.com

Welcome to the Cognitive Overload Site!

Have you ever sat in a training class and been totally overwhelmed by all the new information, technology and esoteric vocabulary? Have your eyes glazed over from information overload? Have you been so frustrated you just wanted to get up and walk out? If so, then you have suffered from cognitive overload!

This is a tutorial for instructional designers and trainers to gain a better understanding of cognitive overload, how to identify cognitive overload in your learners and how to avoid it by using various instructional strategies. Don't let your learners suffer from cognitive overload!

Once you've got the 'herd' in a state of 'cognative dissonance,' then it makes the job of brainwashing them even easier -

How Cues and Programming Work in Mind Control and Propaganda

Propaganda techniques are similar in many ways to [mind] programming techniques. One could say a person is being programmed when being propagandized. The combination of vision and sound on TV make a person more suggestible. Most people get their news from TV. Once a person is overly emotional or numbed out, they become more suggestible and less likely to critically think about their choices. Subliminal learning is then enhanced.

According to Sargant, various types of beliefs can be implanted in people after brain functioning has been disturbed by fear, anger or excitement. These cause heightened suggestibility and impaired judgement. These group manifestations may be classified as the herd instinct, they appear most strongly in wartime and periods of common danger.

Source : sfwar.com

Anyway, looking at the current world situation from the psychological standpoint can be a very effective means of understanding, although as I have found out here at ATS as well as other similar places, most people are nowhere near 'ready' to use these methods - way to 'scary' and requires way too much 'self honesty' ...

I would advise we all are careful not to confuse disagreements in severity with 'denial'.

Any view of a coming 'economic collapse' or general breakdown in capitalism is pretty much rendered silly upon ones next visit to the check out line at wal-mart or next battle with rush-hour traffic.

Until these internet/MSM driven fear-mongering scenarios have been translated to the everyman---and make no mistake, they absolutely have NOT been----then this entire matter is being overstated and exaggerated.

ok, over the last 100 years or so,the world has experienced so many major tragedies,2 world wars, depression, earthquakes, tornados, wall st crash, famines, diseases, wars over religion, financial crashes, global warming, more countries are nuclear, fish stocks reducing bigtime, basic staple food unaffordable for the poor, billions of people every day undernourished etc, etc.

Our politicians show us ways out from problems and then we hit other problems, it don,t matter where you are fortunate or not where you are born anymore because ,with the whole world now in so much debt how can we generate new money?
the american dream was available to make a great future for your family,it don,t look possible anymore.
remember 30 years or so ago when you saw those small children with large bellies (biafran) we could not believe this was happening, well its closer than ever before to more nations.
now you can say well, i,m alright jack, or you can start taking things more seriously and start taking action for yourselves and your families , by saving and stocking reserve food and needs .

Funny we are told all these things are going to happen in the bible (they already have) but we still rather believe ,hey things are ok, don,t you worry yourself with these scaremongerers of doom and gloom.

Want some good advice? ask yourself this question?
What do I need for me and my family to live?, your own answer is , good advice

We are not in Capitalism right now. This is Corporatism. Capitalism was hi-jacked, therefore, this is not the final throws of Capitalism, but of Corporatism.
