Don't waste your time on guilt. Instead, consider that your kids are growing up in a world that is completely foreign to your point of reference on child rearing. Our kids are going to have to be better at differentiating fantasy and reality (or, at least being able to cope with both appropriately as the lines are increasingly blurred).

thank you Texan

but I wonder sometimes at my inability to disappoint my own child by tossing his game vs. his own morality and soul.

Something I must struggle with, or hope for the best.

yet it is no different is it? Our generation of boys grew up playing GI Joe or Cowboys & Indians with their own imagination and a few gunsliger shows to create the basics for thoughts of murder and mahem in fictional terms. (Although it really occured 100 years before in actual history).

not sure what to think anymore.

If peoples mind sets are being changed by this game, thinking war is better - then I have no pity for them.

I do not like the idea of a draft anyways...better others join the army than me.

Well, there is a huge difference between being a real soldier fighting on a real battlefield, and a virtual one, and by huge I truly mean huge.
It's still a good tool for the NWO, to brainwash kids and getting them used to future events, if you understand what I mean.

One of my favorite parts of First Person Shooter and combat/war simulation games coming out now is the ability to play as THE BAD GUY!

Yes that is right kids you TOO can play as an Insurgent faction or Terrorist or as the Iraq military!

I know some might argue that this is kind of sick but it is a step away from Patriotic Brain Washing and a step towards empathy.

Yes, but that mode isn't that popular. I've played COD4 for some time now. In COD4 mulitplayer (depending on the map being played) you are either USMC or OptFor (a fictional mid-east terrorist group) OR you are SAS or Russian Spetz.

So if you want to play a bad guy you are a mid-east terrorist or a Russian special forces.

Since I've been playing COD4 a while I can tell you, those sides lose more ofthen than they win. Many don't want to play them and some of the map layouts put those sides at a slight disadvantage.

So while you can be a "bad guy" - it is often doesn't work as well as picking the "good guy" side. If that is by design or not - ya got me.

only thing i've noticed in these games is the types of personalities that speak, get beat into your brain. slowly but surely, anything repetitive is "brainwash."

heck, even the animate muzzle flash may have subliminal language painted into it, bursting at 900 rounds per minutes into teenage eyes.

...Its a video game, the only "training" this game gives you, is the ability to see a gun and know what it is.

Sprinting 30 metres then raising a gun in the breach position...id say thats a little more labour intensive and takes alot more time to master compared to...holding down the left thumbstick and then pulling the left trigger.

Its a game of hand / eye coordination and reflexes. I used to be on xboxlive playing CoD4 till the cd killed itself, its too worn to even read now. I loved that game and I am damn good at it too, but that doesnt mean Id be an amazing shot in real life...maybe if the gun weighed the same as a controller.

Its a game about war... they handed the game over to new developers and they were tired of the WW2 motif and they wanted something modern. So tell me whats modern? Oh #, guess what Desert / Urban warfare. This isnt NWO training or desensitization, its competitive fun. The same reason people go paintballing or play airsoft.

Its dodgeball of the now.

And the OP said the goal of the game is to kill everything that moves in multiplayer? no...thats only if you choose the "free for all" mode.

There is;

Sabotage - a bomb is placed in the middle of the level, team A has to blow up team B's ammunition, team B has to grab the bomb and blow up team A's ammunition crates. If you take away the bullets, your basically playing football.

Search and Destroy - team A defends the ammunition site, team B has the bomb and must plant it. (if you die, you do not respawn till the next round, also switching sides offense / defense)

Headquarters - a HQ is randomly spawned, teams must capture it and hold it for points. The other team must destroy it. The longer you hold said point, the more points you gain. First team to 250 points wins. If your team has control of the HQ - you do not respawn

Team Deathmatch - first team to so many kills wins

Free for all - first player to so many kills wins.

I love the arguement videos games are destroying our youth, they are being brainwashed. Here's an idea...that ESRB rating...you know...the one that says M - Mature (18+) on the box.... maybe you should follow it and stop buying your 9 year old children adult rated content...do you buy them porn aswell?

Strong minds know what they're getting into, usually, and a video game being able to destroy an original being is, absurd. One just can't help (people who don't normally play or understand most new video games) what's going on inside the xbox. it's really harmless. You're hurting your eyes and metabolism only.
